This house is adorable. The decor and design is really sweet. It's back in the woods and mountains and pretty quiet which was nice. You can walk to town, if you don't mind stairs. The kitchen was well stocked and there was plenty of room. The only drawback was slight moldy smel…

We enjoyed our time at Deer Meadow Cottage. It was walking distance to town and provided a great quiet haven. We liked sitting outside with a fire in the pit watching the wildlife. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home.

If you were wanting to stay in Eureka Springs and willing to spend a higher price because everything else is booked up and you don't mind staying in a very Primitive Place than this is the place for you. There are gaps in the doors to the outside so bugs and mice come in Freely, …

Response from Marcia:
As the owner of Deer Meadow Cabin which has been a guest destination since 1992 I am totally confused by this disturbingly negative review. Thank heavens it is not the norm for this most popular cabin I own! The night of Mike and his wife's arrival I received a text message from Mikewhich I quote : "OMG it is Beautiful ! My wife is in tears because it reminds her of her late Grandmother's home" ~~ much later that same night I received another text asking if there was a way to "turn down the temperature on the hottub " > ... i sent detailed instructions and Mike assured me they were going out to eat and would open the cover to allow it to cool down etc. The next morning I called to check on the water temp and Mike told me his wife was hyper sensitive with many allergies and perhaps the temperature seemed higher than it really was ( the limit on hottub thermostats is 103 o and the thermometer in the water stated it had reached that point.) Mike did say it seemed very warm for him though. I went over with a new thermometer and adjusted everything and left it a 98o. On that second evening I received a message that the water temp was "absolutely Perfect !!~ could not have been more comfortable" , etc etc. That was April 26th. I made it a point to call or text with Mike each day from that point forward to be sure that everything was comfortable and he and his wife had what they needed. He kept assuring me they loved the cabin, he was in the maintenance business and was not overly particular about anything ~ would never complain unless something was extremely amiss ~ wanted me to know that and not worry about them. they were having a wonderful time, etc. Apparently he started adjusting the temperature soon afterwards on the tub and somehow turned it totally Off on their 3rd day/night~~ he notified me and I monitored the tub on and off that whole fourth day until again the temperature was what they considered ideal `~97o ~ he sent a text that night saying he had checked the tub and it "was good" . In all the years of hottub ownership ad the literally hundreds of guests who have stayed in this cottage year around I have notever had this problem before. Sincerely I do not know what to think ~~ and yes, I did ask him if he saw any signs of a mouse anywhere and he did mention there were a few droppings in a top drawer and assured me it was ok ~ I think he said they lived in the country and were used to critters ~~ at any rate a country cabin set in the trees sometimes has a surprise & I told him I was so regretful & would come over ,clean up anything I could find and he adamantly told me all was well , not to worry !. Clearly Deer Meadow cabin was not a good "fit" for Mike and his wife ~ & now I wonder whether he read my detailed description of the "country casual sometimes downright cozy shabby " atmosphere offered here. Usually when there are new guests planning for a several night stay I ask them to read fully my description and ask any questions they may have. To me it is so very sad when a guest is disappointed ~~ I do not recall the town being "filled up" that weekend and would have gladly found them other more suitable accommodations and issued a refund if I had known how unhappy they were. I definitely wish I had encouraged a phone conversation with these guests after they reserved so that I could have arranged cancellation if his concerns were not satisfied by him making "sure of multiple things" (Website hidden by Airbnb) Sincerely Marcia Yearsley (owner storybooklodging)

We visited on spring break and this was a perfect landing spot for our family of 4. We are able-bodied and enjoyed the staircases to downtown. To get to them, take a left out of the front door and walk about 1/4 mile down the road until you find the staircase ( (Hidden by Airbnb)…
