Magasinn is a combination of a small design store and lodging space that gives you the time to experience selected products, books and artworks for a night.

Magasinn changes its contents periodically, providing new ideas and emerging topics to guests like an actual magazine.

The building is a renovated traditional Kyoto Machiya: 2 stories wooden house, the symbol of Kyoto. We are looking forward to meeting new ideas from every corner of the globe.

The space
Once I was reading my favorite magazine, I imagined how amazing if I could live in this art of editing: the story of seasonal experiences with delicately selected products.

Magasinn is a combination of a design store and lodging space that gives you the time to experience selected products, books and artworks for a night. By referring the form of magazine, Magasinn changes its contents periodically like a quarterly, which provides new ideas and emerging topics to guests like an actual magazine.

The building is a renovated Kyoto Machiya: 2 stories wooden house, the symbol of Kyoto. There are 2 rooms, each 6 tatami mats sized, on the 2nd floor furnished with Futons for up to 6 people. The rooms are separated from the store by sliding door with key to keep the sense of privacy.

Right next to the entrance, there is a white tile box, used to be a milk fridge, called Fukurotoji: means a sealed-page in a magazine in Japanese. It may be one of the smallest and the most experimental exhibition space in Kyoto. At the back, there is also a small but pleasing Japanese garden called Tsuboniwa, which let the entire building breath.

Currently, the store only opens in the weekend from 1pm-8pm and 6pm-8pm on the weekday. We provide bottles of beer, coffee and sake.

Guest access
Guests are allowed to access all the spaces and facilities in the house.

Other things to note
Space: Our customers will be our shop space except for your private room from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Breakfast: We collaborate with Chita Chita Kissa, a cozy cafe nearby, to provide breakfast Magasinn special breakfast for 500 yen +tax. Please ask the staff at check-in. The cafe opens 8am-7pm, closes only on Tuesday and start from 11:30 on Wednesday.

Pricing: The price shows on Airbnb page will be different from the price on the official website, that is because Airbnb adds service fee and local tax as well as the fluctuation of the exchange rate between JPY and USD.
Our price depends on the number of guests because we would like to let stay you easy from 1 person.

The neighborhood is one of the most traditional area called Kamigyo-ku in Kyoto. There are also many traditional sites such as Nijo-jo castle and Imperial Court in walkable distance. We personally recommend local small shops with new concepts that is creating communities in their own directions.
