Tuppence Cottage is located in peaceful Dartmoor on the Glenelg River, south west Victoria, famous for its memorial tree carvings. The town is 1 hour to Hamilton, 40 minutes to Portland and Cape Bridgewater and a 1/2 drive to Heywood, Casterton (famous for the Kelpie Muster), Nelson and 1/2 hr to Mount Gambier and the Blue Lakes in SA. Dartmoor offers easy access to experiences from river to coast, caves to cliffs and is amidst forests and national parks.
Tuppence Cottage is located on a large block. You will need to be self sufficient however Dartmoor has a well stocked general store (with internet café) and hotel with excellent pub meals, but ideally shop before you arrive in order to prepare meals. There is parkland front and rear of the cottage and plenty of space and bird life to enjoy. Tuppence Cottage has a large fully fenced yard. Basic pantry item ie salt and pepper, condiments, tea, coffee and sugar are supplied and the kitchen is fully equipped with basic utensils.
You will have Tuppence Cottage to yourself during your stay. Your car can be parked undercover.
Interaction with guests
A contact number will be provided in case you need assistance. The general store has plenty of advice for travellers, as does the museum which is generally open on weekends.
Other things to note
There are plenty of lovely walks in the area and the region offers an abundance of activities to enjoy including the Princess Margaret Rose Caves, and memorial tree in the main street of Dartmoor. The Blue Lakes at Mount Gambier and beaches at Nelson are all an easy half hour drive. The Coonawarra and Penola district vineyards are an hour's drive from Dartmoor.
