The original double garden room.
An isolated wildlife paradise only 1 hour 15 mins from the centre of Melbourne. Use of pool and kitchen and gorgeous outdoor areas. Everyone loves it. Just read the reviews!

The space

We live on 40 magnificently private acres on the Little Yarra River outside Yarra Junction in the Upper Yarra Valley with views to die for and tame kangaroos called Brynn and her baby, Rockin' Robyn.
There are wonderful restaurants and wineries close by and gorgeous walks on the Yarra Trail (also on our property down to the river)
Watch the horses grazing, pick from the fruit trees, play with the 2 golden retrievers (Gilbert and Sullivan) and cuddle with Felix the cat.
I could imagine this as ideal for someone wishing to spend some time writing at their very own country retreat or visiting what is virtually a wildlife retreat.
Ride bikes, go for breakfast, walk or spend time by the pool. Many people come intending to go off for the day and decide to stay here all day instead.
During the day it is 100% quiet.
In this area you need a car as there is no public transport.
PS if you would like your own ensuite and the mountain view, instead of the garden, try the Wombat Room on Airbnb

Guest access

Guests have access to all amenities as required. Just ask.
PS I have spare isolated paddocks for anyone wanting to bring their own horse. I know what it is like to go away and leave the 'friends' behind!

Other things to note

We know lots of people in the valley and can put you in touch with people to go rafting or biking or therapeutic massage.
PS On this property we always carry a mobile phone wherever we go for safety. Please do likewise.

This property is absolutely gorgeous and serene. We couldn't have picked a better place to have gotten away too for a few nights. The animals and the breath taking views are by far the highlight of the trip. Highly recommended to all!

A truly wonderful experience at Kangaroo Manor. From the moment you drive inside the gates to seeing the sunset over the valley it was top notch. This is a perfect break for anyone of all ages wishing to escape city life. There are activities both inside and outside of the property. The animals were wonderful and the two retrievers even joined us on a long walk! The proximity of the property to wineries makes it impossible to not end up buying a few bottles to take home! We will be back! X

We were excited to stay in this property, but were unfortunately very disappointed and left without staying a single night. The main concerns were: 1) Hygiene/cleanliness - despite apparently having been recently cleaned, there was fresh mouse poo on the bed next to the pillow. No one lives in this building - it is an old house that stands empty unless it is booked by guests, and as such is somewhat dilapidated. If it had been clean, this probably wouldn't have been an issue, but it was not. Additionally the windows were left open so there were a lot of insects (and probably spiders) inside the house. 2) Security - the doors and windows are not lockable, and as such we did not feel safe there. Good Things: 1) The location looked amazing, with kangaroos everywhere and very friendly dogs. 2) Louise communicated very clearly before our arrival, and gave us a refund when we left.

Response from Louise:
This was unfortunate all around. Rosie and her mother arrived after what appeared to be an argument and left after 15 minutes before I could arrive home 1. This is home which is lived in with a cat, 2 dogs, 2 kangaroos and 3 horses. Unfortunately, after 4 hours wait on the arrival time we had gone for dinner and were on call. A friend with no connection to the house stayed to make the greeting, which clearly went array and won't happen again. 2. The house is an architecturally designed hexagon built of wood, as seen in the Yarra Valley magazine 7-page feature and website-video. It is kept spotless and we are very pleased with our wonderful cleaners and laundry. This is reflected in our excellent feedback. As we live in the country and it is winter with heating inside, the wildlife love it. The country has such things as mice and insects. We manage them well. Our 2 tame kangaroos also choose to sleep by the window, which everyone adores. 3. We have locks on all windows and doors. We also have a coded gate. It is important that anyone reading this read other reviews from those who have stayed with us.

This is honestly heaven in the Yarra valley. Amazing home, views, location etc. So peaceful and tranquil. Took everything in my body not to take home their gorgeous doggies and kangaroo's. house was kept in wonderful condition. The beds were extremely comfy, the kitchen was spacious and accomodating. No photos could ever capture the views seen from their porch. Herman was extremely helpful and a wonderful host. We will definitely be back again.

Great views, friendly kangaroos, very comfortable bed and great kitchen, verandah, lounge for reading or watching TV and a well equipped kitchen. Relaxing and a great way to escape the city for a weekend to recharge the batteries. Thanks for a great stay, Louise.
