A furnished AC room located in a quiet and posh neighborhood of Ekdalia Road, at the heart of the city. For women, family and couple ( not for unmarried couples). Close to Metro, Railway station and all sorts of public transports, market places, shopping malls, Nationalized and foreign banks with ATM, foreign exchange burros.

The space
This is a visual artists house with some painted furniture's and objects, sculptures and paintings. Every small little space of the house is decorated in a very artistic way with a, creative, personal touche.Every corner of the house is done with great care and love, with very tender personal feeling like home made food. It gives you lot of positive energy as it is a south facing house of a centralized position with big doors and windows. The house gets lots of light and air. Although it is Air conditioned yet the doors and windows are designed in such a way so that it gets cross ventilation from all directions. It is a white colored house which also gives a very sophisticated and dignified feelings.
It is a 77 years old house. It was my maternal Grand -parent’s house. My maternal Grand -mother was the daughter of writer Late Jogindra Nath Sarkar, the famous Bengali writer for children. My grand mother's musical instrument (Organ) is still there in our house, which was a gift to her from her father on her wedding. Writer Jogindra Nath Sarkar was Dr. Nil Ratan Sarkar’s younger brother. On whose name Neel Ratan sarkar Medical College and Hospital is there in Calcutta. My mother’s maternal uncle was famous statistician Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobish. Former freedom fighter turner famous philosopher Shree Aurobindo (Ghosh) was my mother’s paternal uncle. My maternal family was a famous family; many of the ancestors had great contribution to the 19th century Bengal Renaissance.
This is the 150 th birth anniversary of writer Jogindra Nath Sarkar. He was born on 28th October 1866. Originally they were immigrants from Jassore, which was part of India before independence. Now it belongs to Bangla Desh. My maternal Grand- father Nirmal Chandra De built this house with great love for his wife Bina and at the end of his life he gifted this house to his youngest daughter Sukla (my mother). I am the only daughter of my parents. my father is no more. I have a little daughter of four years. I am a visual artist by profession and the first IVF single mother in Calcutta/ eastern India. I also write on social and gender issues, my own words in my own way.

Guest access
Their own rooms,dining foyer, Terrace in the day time and the south verandah for some hours of the day . Reception and foyer, upstairs dining space during arrival, departure or some times during breakfast. Other areas of the house on permission or by invitation.

Other things to note
No smoking in side the rooms/ house. Eve teasing and sexual harassment are strictly prohibited. Submission of photocopies of photo Id / voters Id for Indian visitors/ Passport with visa stamp for foreign visitors along with verification with the originals is mandatory during arrival as per government of India rules and regulations.
Arrival and departure is preferable between 8 am in the morning and 12 midnight.Check out and check in time is 12 noon. Early arrival (before 12 noon and late departure after 12 noon will cost full payment for the previous or next day. Arrival and departure is not possible between 12 midnight and 6.30 am in the morning for the safety/ security of the house and quality resting / sleeping time of the inmates including other residing guests. Door bells/ calling bells/ phone calls are not allowed even for asking the house direction between 12 midnight and 6.30 am in the morning. The main door of the house cannot be opened between 12 midnight and 6.30 am in the morning except medical emergencies. For using Air Conditioning Rs.200/- per day is payable in cash in advance during arrival.

It is a nice calm and quiet middle class and upper middle class non inter-fearing neighbor hood who would not disturb on individual privacy. people can speak and understand English more or less every where. People are nice,have welcoming and helping attitudes to wards guests. Indians love foreigners for social interaction. According to Traditional Indian concept Guests are like God to us." Atithi Deba Bhaba ". Considerable safe streets and neighbor-hood for women visitors during evenings and late evenings.

Self Introduction I am an artist based in Kolkata. I did my graduation and post graduation from Kala Bhavan, Shantiniketan, of Visva Bharati University. Later on I studied at the Glasgow School of Art, UK with a Charles Wallace India Trust scholarship as a visiting MFA student. I also received the National Scholarship and Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Culture, Government of India during my academic years. Until now I have received some awards including the President of India’s Silver plaque and the Governor’s gold medal from the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata. I had about 32 solo exhibitions in different cities of India and abroad including New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, London, Glasgow, Moscow etc. I have also participated in a number of group shows at Calcutta, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, London and New York.
