This was a last minute booking of three nights; what an incredible find. It ticked all our boxes. Most importantly was that it had bags of charm. It's a beautiful place and we were so grateful as Sophie met us to open the house and show us round after a late arrival at Paris CDG. She gave us a warm and generous welcome and then left us to our own devices. We'd come to visit the start of Paris - Roubaix at Compeigne which was fabulous. Compeigne is a gorgeous town. We were looking for the easy life (family of five) so we didn't do any sightseeing locally. However we drove past the chateau at Pierrefronds - it's breathtaking- looks worth a visit. We were struck by the beautiful countryside; perfect for walks and all kinds of cycling.
The sun was out during our stay and the garden a sun trap. We relaxed during our time and read, played cards, watched stuff on our devices, cooked and ate. We spent our last day in Paris before a late flight back home.
The cottage is in a very quiet village / hamlet so you need to be organised with food. I noticed a mobile Boulangerie announcing its arrival at 8.30 am on the Tuesday morning as we were leaving.
