Impressive honey coloured stone house with many period features including a pigeonnaire tower, stone sink, exposed beams and handcarved staircases set in a peaceful pine forest with wonderful village views. Private garden with a terrace to eat and shared, heated pool. There is also a play area .The house is set over 3 floors and offers 3 bedrooms, a sitting room, a dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, a shower room and separate toilet. The house is for 6 people, children and babies included.

The space

Impressive , stone property, laid out over 3 floors with a kitchen, dining room, sitting room, shower room and separate toilet on the ground floor. Stairs lead up to a double bedroom and a door leads through to the master bedroom with a vaulted ceiling and chandelier in the pigeonnaire tower. A hand carved staircase leads up to the third bedroom with 2 single beds also in the tower. The stairs into the third bedroom are steep and maybe difficult for the young or old. This house has wi fi. Outside is a private garden with a terrace offering wonderful village views. There is a heated pool which can be covered to allow swimming in all weathers and a play area with ping pong, boules, a swing etc. The pool and play area are shared between the 5 houses. The pool is open and heated 9weather dependant) now until the end of October. We have 5 properties in 5 acres of pine forest which can be rented singularly or together and can accommodate up to 27 people. The houses are perfect for a group as there are areas inside and outside to eat together but each house is private and independant. The houses are period properties and so will not suit those who have modern minimalist preferences. If you would like wood for the wood burner, it is not included in the price and please ask before arriving.I can lend you a travel cot, high chair and baby bath if you are travelling with a little one.
We are just 4km from Montignac and the famous Lascaux caves and a 20 minute drive from Sarlat, Beynac etc. There are lots of wonderful Chateaux, gardens and caves to visit nearby as well as rivers to canoe on, horse riding (which I can organise at a local chateau) and amazing food and wine to enjoy.

Guest access

The pool and play area plus the other grounds are shared between the 5 houses.

Interaction with guests

We live nearby and can offer advice on what to see and do.

Other things to note

The house is private with it's own garden and terrace but the other areas maybe shared with other guests.

It was an amazing little cottage set among a few others, with a common pool and games area. We loved the tranquility, and enjoyed going for walks and exploring the nearby towns. Unfortunately we had a few issue with cleanliness - we had to wash dishes before using them, and the tablecloth had dried food stuck to it when we arrived. We felt it generally needed a bit of a clean, and the outdoor areas and games equipment was a little tired. Despite this we enjoyed our stay, and the hosts are lovely, and helpful.

What a fantastic place! We had such a great time and the kids loved the ping pong table and especially the pool. It was so quiet and peaceful we loved sitting outside in the evening. The house was great with everything provided and the beds were really comfy. There was lots of information on things to see in the area. Would highly recommend and would love to return.

We loved our stay here! Our family of four found the description accurate - in fact we found it more picturesque, serene and comfortable than described. There is a ridiculous amount of things to do in the area for history buffs, outdoors people or people simply loving natural beauty. The accomodation was indeed fairytale like with an interesting history and full of character and details. It fit a family of 4 easily (with plenty of room for at least 2 more). It was well equipped including an outdoor table and chairs overlooking the valley and bbq. It does have a number of stairs inside which didn't bother us but may others. There is plenty of space for free car parking. The pool was fabulous. The owners were lovely and great with communication including recommendations on things to do. My daughter cried when we left (and we have stayed at lots of places before and she has never done so). Canoeing, castles, the Sarlat market and caves are a must do and this accommodation is perfectly placed for all. We would highly recommend Rachel's home and are very keen to return!

Wonderful house in a beautiful and peaceful setting. We had a great three days exploring the area and then relaxing in the evening eating outside and enjoying the view. Rachel and Neil were quick in communicating with us and very nice. We hope to return!
