Our cosy cabin is Covid ready, ideal for tired travelers after a long day of touring or for couples in need of a private get away. With no extra fees, enjoy being hidden on top of a hill amongst Blackwoods and Blue Gums, nestled in your own private cubby. If staying in, be surrounded by homely comforts and treats while being entertained by our Australian Miniature Goats. Step back in time, our unique farmlet will charm you with it's old English gardens and buildings C.1948. Prepare to unwind...

The space
Penguin Hideaway Farmlet is ready for you to put your feet up and settle in...

Enjoy a pillow-top, double bed mattress with extra blankets and a hot water bottle to ensure you're cosy. The Hideaway Cabin has a split air conditioner for heating or cooling and houses a small dining table which can be extended to double as a work space. The tv is on a trolley cabinet with remote so you can position it for maximum relaxation in bed if you choose. We provide a DVD player including some movies and popcorn. If you changed your mind on dessert when you dined out, we've got you covered. Enjoy access to WiFi, boardgames, a book swap shelf, private shower and toilet.

Kitchen/cooking facilities are limited, consider The Hideaway Cabin a glorified hotel room but with all the perks thrown in and no extra fees. We have a microwave for basic cooking/reheating, a toaster, kettle, fridge/freezer and crockery. We provide a basic breakfast for our guests which includes coffee, various teas, full cream milk, soy milk, bread, juice, cereal and fruit. Any available produce in harvest will be provided to guests to sample. Our seasonal preserves are also available to purchase along with some craft our family enjoys to make.

We want you to know that we're doing our part to help our guests stay safe by cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces (light switches, doorknobs, handles, remotes, etc.) before you check in.

The Hideaway Cabin is central to all the hot tourist spots in the North-West of Tasmania. Stay as long as you can afford to, most of our guests wish they stayed at least 2 nights. Be able to complete all your day trips whether it's Stanley to the far West (1hr 20min), Cradle Mountain to the South (1hr 10min), Launceston to the East (1hr 20min) or all the beautiful and unique towns in-between all under an hour's drive. The Hideaway Cabin is described by previous guests as a peaceful, cosy, warm haven with lots of character... we can't wait to welcome you to experience Penguin Hideaway Farmlet too!

Guest access
You have access to a fenced off area behind the cabin where you can enjoy views of the front paddocks and watch how our farm animals spend their day. Our ram, Moss, and his lady friend, August, keep the farmlet secure whilst our family of Australian Miniature Goats will love to come up to the fence to say hi. You can also watch the fruit growing in the orchard ruled by our motley crew of chooks. Our Beagles are always ready to greet you in their Beagle way and in return would love to receive a pat. Outdoor chairs are provided for you to enjoy your surroundings. If you would like to explore the property further please ask us during your stay.

Other things to note
Our local Hiscutt Park has public access to undercover barbecues, picnic facilities and public toilets. This could be an option for you to cook and dine in a beautiful setting by Penguin Creek and Bass Strait across the road. You'll also enjoy the opportunity to see interesting wildlife that call this park home.

We are located on a rural block very close to Bass Hwy, usual traffic noise is to be expected however you get to experience all the environmental benefits of living on the outskirts of town. By day lots of wild birds frequent our property and by night plenty of Tasmanian Pademelons, Wallabies, Possums, Potteroos and Rabbits visit our gardens from both up the driveway and from our bush reserve.

Location

Penguin, Tasmania, Australia

Penguin is in our opinion the most beautiful coastal town with the friendliest community in the North-West of Tasmania.

Penguin Hideaway Farmlet is perfectly nestled between the ocean and the mountains with only a 10 minute drive to Ulverstone and a 15 minute drive to Burnie. We are a popular first & last night choice of accommodation for those traveling via The Spirit Of Tasmania, being a direct 30 minute drive from Devonport. We are also a popular, affordable accommodation for tourists wishing to spend a full day exploring Cradle Mountain, we highly recommend the lovely drive to Cradle from Turners Beach/Forth B19.

We are a respectful, friendly couple who love nurturing the land, bringing up our daughters, valuing all of life's experiences and sharing its' bounty with others. We love laughing, watching a great sunset, eating good food & spending time in nature. We are advocates of simple living, regenerative land practices and chemical free growing. If home, you'll see us working the land and animals on our farmlet and if touring, we'll be sitting back enjoying the views. We show deep gratitude for the land and the habitat we are part of and hope to share it with others who will also enjoy the humbling experience it is to simply 'be'...

We are available at any time to accommodate your needs, simply walk over to the homestead or send us a message.

We are slowly establishing a resourceful farm based on permaculture design with a focus on regenerative practices. We also use organic methods of growing and animal rearing so all our produce from the farm is spray free and naturally grown. If you're interested, we love to chat about our experiences and would love to share our vision and story with you.
