Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Barrenjoey Farm is set on 30 acres of rolling farmland in the historic village of Richmond, just 25mins from Hobart’s waterfront and 10mins to the airport.

Home to Highland cows, alpacas, and Swiss blacknose sheep, the farm is a peaceful escape made for slowing down.

Hosting spectacular views of the countryside and vineyards, the estate is located just metres from the village, restaurants, antique and homeware stores, along with some of the region’s best wineries.

The space
Nestled in the stunning Coal River Valley, our property is the perfect base for your Tassie getaway. With five bedrooms and four bathrooms, this modern country home comfortably sleeps nine, making it perfect for families and large groups.

THE HOUSE
• Master Wing: A private sanctuary featuring a super king bed, en-suite, spacious dressing room, and an outdoor bath with courtyard.
• Guest Wing: Includes a king bedroom, a queen bedroom with an en-suite, and two single bedrooms (one with a trundle bed).
• Living Spaces: Expansive open-plan living with cathedral ceilings, a cosy wood fireplace, and floor-to-ceiling sliding doors that frame breathtaking views of the farm, surrounding vineyards and rolling hills.
• Dining & Kitchen: A fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar, coffee machine, dishwasher, and a 9-seater oak dining table.

Every room is fitted with luxurious French flax linen bedding and a variety of pillows to ensure a restful night’s sleep. Gorgeous local Richmond Botanical bathroom products throughout.

Families are welcome at Barrenjoey Farm. The home is equipped with toys, board games, and child-friendly essentials like plastic dinnerware to ensure parents relax while the little ones play.

THE FARM
• Our farm is home to many furry friends. We have two baby Highland Cows, nine alpacas, four chickens, and our Swiss Blacknose sheep Shawn and Timmy, known as “the cutest sheep in the world.”
• Four horse paddocks, stables, and an equestrian arena for horse lovers.
• End your days with a glass of local Tasmanian wine by the firepit, soaking in the magic of the Coal River Valley’s sunsets. You may even catch the incredible Aurora Australis (Southern Lights) which is often visible in our clear country night skies.

LOCATION
Historic Richmond is just 25 minutes from Hobart’s CBD and 10 minutes from the international airport. Our property is located very close to the centre of town, where you can explore antique shops, enjoy tea and scones, or visit Australia’s iconic oldest bridge.

THINGS TO KNOW
• Our home is designed to stay warm in winter. While there is no underfloor heating, the polished concrete retains heat from the large double glazed doors and cathedral windows. The two heat pump systems and wood fire also keeps the house toasty.
• Stay cool in summer with the air conditioning units and huge sliding stacker doors down both sides of the main living wing. Note - southern Tassie can get windy.
• With such stunning views and no neighbours, the main living area and master bedroom wing are free of curtains. If you prefer to wake in darkness, consider bringing an eye mask. Blinds or curtains in all other bedrooms.
• As the Coal River Valley is just outside Hobart's main suburban area, Richmond is best explored with a private car.
• Some of our fences are electrified to protect our animal friends. And our Highland cows (whilst cute) are baby bulls … with horns! Wildlife is often spotted too, including snakes, wedgetail eagles, spiders and even Tassie Devils.

THE WHY
Barrenjoey Farm is built on land cared for by the Palawa people for tens of thousands of years. We love sharing Barrenjoey Farm with others … especially people from the city who come here and remember what it’s like to slow down and reconnect. With nature, with each other, and with the simple rhythm of life on the land.
