The space
Barkala Farmstay is a working Australian farm and also home of the famous Pilliga Pottery. Located just 30km North of Coonabarabran, NSW this farmstay offers a unique opportunity to experience rural life on an Australian Farm.

Guests can get involved in daily farm activities such as milking the cow (seasonal), feeding the goats, sheep, pony, chooks and guinea pigs, toasting marshmellows by the fire (outside of bushfire season only) or walking any number of the 60km bushwalking tracks across the 12,000 acre farm.

Choose to camp in the great outdoors or to stay in one of the comfortable European inspired artisan guesthouses hand-built using many materials found on the property.

This unique farmstay is an opportunity to show kids the real country life by letting them explore the animal pens, gardens and paddocks. Barkala Farm is dog friendly.

The Pottery offers free hands on clay play as well as pottery classes and there is an onsite cafe open for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as refreshments all day .

The farm also has an in-ground swimming pool, volleyball court, playground for young children and ample room for ball sports.

Guests can do as much, or as little as desired while staying on the farm.

Expect a unique experience when you stay at Barkala Farmstay, it is truly unforgettable.

To access the property, guests need to travel a 10km all weather access dirt road which can get bumpy in the dry season but adds to the farm experience.

There is no cell-phone reception on the majority of the farm. Intermittent reception can be found on some of the bushwalking tracks. Essential Wifi is available in the onsite cafe for emails only. A telephone is available in the pottery for guests to use at any time, free of charge.

Where you’ll be

Coonabarabran, New South Wales, Australia

Our neighbourhood is defined mainly by being very stretched, due to the huge property sizes: our nearest neighbour is a couple of kilometers away. However, this means that there is a lot of free space on our property for wandering around, with some great panoramic views on the lookouts. Make sure not to miss them when you visit us!
