Unique glamping experience on a working pretty free range pig farm Bundarra Berkshires, on the bush with a local produce hamper from our farm (bacon!) and other local farms included for breakfast or taking home. Our little wagon is beautifully lined with original timber boards and insulated with a foot of horse hair. It exudes peace and tranquility. Your outlook is the red gum forest that surrounds our farm through a picture window. Lose yourself, unwind.

The space
The wagon is a raw and unadulterated piece of history, originally used to cart cheese and meat by rail. The thick insulated walls sound proof your space and draw you back to the simple things in life and the beauty of the natural surrounding environment. Your bed is fitted with fine linen and big bath sheets and handmade body products are provided to use. Use this space to totally relax and unwind. Barham is just a three hour drive from Melbourne and home to a range of top quality artisan producers as well as awesome natural beauty. The cooking facilities are basic but adequate to cook breakfast and basic meals on the BBQ. There is a small microwave available in the work kitchen nearby, a fridge where you will find your breakfast provisions, a toaster and a kettle. The bathroom is next door and although unheated has very hot water. These are basic additions to the wagon which add to the experience of staying on a farm next to the bush. Suitable for kids and babies, and our pets are super friendly. The farm is easily accessible and we encourage our guests to wander on a walk to see how our free range pigs live. Barham is a small pretty down on the Murray River that neighbours with heritage rich Koondrook. Our farm is on the Backroads Trail which links up on-farm businesses between Barham, Moama and Deniliquin. You can easily drive between the farms and connect on a personal level with the actual producers, who meet and greet you but also spend the time with you to share their story and a piece of their lifestyle with you. Travel from our farm to Barham Avocados, then onto Restdown Wines for tastings and wine sales. The farmers market is on the 3rd Sunday of the month in Riverside Park.
There are walking trails in the surrounding Gunbower State Forest which is on the Gunbower Island, known for its wetlands and wildlife it is the largest inland island in Australia. Canoe hire to explore is available from the Barham Hotel. Fishing in the Murray is good with Cod, Silver Perch and Yellow Belly being the main catches. As we grow a lot of amazing food in the region, there are places like the Long Paddock Food Store, Canvas Coffee and Providore and Farm 253 where you can get breakfast and lunch made up from locally grown food.
We can provide a hamper for you at an extra cost to take on your daily adventures.

I manage and run Bundarra Berkshires, a free range pig farm with my husband Lachy, our two young girls and baby boy. I love to cook, I love animals, I'm a local food advocate and just love living in the country.

During your stay

IMPORTANT: please ensure you have NOT been on another farm that day, and wear clean shoes, please do NOT bring outside pork products to our farm, this is a huge risk of introducing deadly African Swine Fever. We are here most of the time and if you need anything you are welcome to come knocking on our door, but we will leave you in peace otherwise. We do provide a breakfast hamper included in your stay with milk, bacon and local juice and bread and can put together lunch hampers loaded with locally sourced produce, wine and goods for an added cost of $100. We own a delicatessen and butchery in Barham and can show you around as part of your stay and we also run tours and tastings, and charcuterie masterclasses. Please book these in advance. The deli also stocks fresh pork, charcuterie and small goods from our farm and local produce and cheese. We have 2 Maremma guard dogs and a big Golden Retriever and a young dog Tiger, all of which are friendly when we introduce them to guests. We also have a farm cat, Molly. Please do not enter the paddocks with the pigs, nor feed them. Pigs are super sensitive to human diseases and are not ever to be fed human food, e.g scraps as this spreads disease.
