Unbeatable location

100% of guests in the past year gave this location a 5-star rating.
Welcome to our luxurious Tent Haus nestled between the Superior National Forest and the BWCA, offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Perfect for up to 5 guests. Situated just across the street from beautiful Poplar Lake, guests have convenient access to serene lakeside views and recreational activities.

Our tent house is a unique blend of comfort and adventure, providing an unforgettable glamping experience.

Poplar Haus restaurant is located only a 1/2 mile away.

The space
Luxury meets the outdoors at the Tent Haus. Spend the days exploring the plethora of lakes by canoe, kayak, or paddleboard. You can take the journey and portage from lake to lake, or spend some time looking for the trophy walleye or trout. The nearby Leo Lake and Birch Lake are both known for their rainbow trout, while Poplar Lake and Hungry Jack Lake are where you can catch walleye and smallmouth bass.

This is one of the few places in the United States that is home to moose. There is a moose trail that goes through the property right next to the house that is full of moose tracks. While exploring the trails, you will also likely encounter signs of moose. Keep an eye out for grouse, fox, wolves, bears and other wildlife as well!

The hiking will make you feel closer to nature. The short drive to Honeymoon Bluff offers one of the best overlooks this area has to offer. The view of Hungry Jack Lake from the the top of the bluff will be something you hold onto in your memories forever. Another fantastic overlook is a short walk from the start of the Caribou Rock Hiking Trail. You will want to come back here again and again just to show it off to your friends traveling with you.

The Tent Haus is just steps away from the South Lake Trail. This trail will take you to Birch Lake and Moss Lake, and also connects up to the Border Trail through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Make sure to grab a day use permit on the way in!

At the Tent Haus, you can sip your morning coffee on the deck while taking in the views of the wilderness. Enjoy the many amenities that don't come with a traditional tent, such as a full bathroom and shower, a full kitchen and mini refrigerator, a queen bed, long twin bed and couch with a pull out bed. Gather around the outdoor firepit in the evening to tell campfire stories, and if it rains, you can rest easy to the peaceful sound of the rain bouncing off the canvas.

There are a number of dining options nearby.
- White Pine Lodge requires a reservation as they prepare enough handmade dough for pizzas daily.
- Poplar Haus has the best views of Poplar Lake from their deck, and some of the best food the Gunflint Trail has to offer. The burger rivals any burger you have ever had, and the duck wings are something you probably didn't expect to see on the menu, but will leave you satisfied.
- Trail Center is famous for their plate size pancakes and delicious hash browns. They also have a store for any of your needs so you don't have to run back to Grand Marais if you forgot anything.
- Hungry Jack Lodge has a fantastic bar and restaurant that is open daily. The Reuben is my favorite on the menu, and its a great spot to shoot some pool and hang out.
- At the Gunflint Lodge restaurant, you can enjoy classics such as the Tator Tot Hot Dish while enjoying the lakeside views of Gunflint Lake, which borders Canada.
- Loons Nest Coffee is a great spot for getting your morning fix of coffee, pastries, or some light affair.

Guest access
Up to two vehicles can be parked up the driveway next to the Tent Haus. There is a parking pad on the property that is used by another family that owns a cabin on Poplar Lake. This parking pad is NOT to be used by guests.

A keypad deadbolt is on the front door and the access code will be given on the day of reservation. Push the button to light up the numbers on the keypad, put the code in and push the checkmark to unlock the door. If you do not have cell phone service, you can walk up to the deck of the Tent Haus and connect up to our WIFI.

Other things to note
There is no built in heat or air conditioning at the Tent Haus. There are two space heaters provided if needed. There are also games and puzzles available for use.
