House rules
This place isn’t suitable for children (2–12 yrs) and the host doesn’t allow pets, parties, or smoking.
The Old School House is a pretty Victorian schoolhouse built in 1838, in lovely mature gardens on the edge of the un-spoilt village of Cardinham on the edge of Bodmin Moor, with its wild moorland ponies, cattle and sheep. The peaceful village has 15th century church at its heart but just a mile in the other direction takes you to Cardinham Forest with walks and cycle ways. Half an hour from the coast.

The price is for two people sharing the double room including full English breakfast.

The space
A traditional and professional B & B, offering a private double room with en-suite bathroom, meeting all the standards of nationally recognized assessment schemes, offering peace and quiet and friendly, personal service.
Our double en-suite room has a bath and shower over and overlooks pretty views across the gardens. It is attractively furnished with a comfy double bed and good quality linen, bedside tables and lamps, table with refreshment tray including selection of teas, filter coffee, and complimentary Furniss biscuits. We supply fresh milk.

There is a cupboard with hanging space, shelves and luggage rack and hairdryer. The room has Freesat Smart Screen TV, radio and Wifi .

All rooms are centrally heated and the refurbished bathroom has an electric heated towel rail. Do ask if you wish you use any other facilities such as an iron.

We also have a single en-suite room, The Bothy, in a little building separate to the house (about 5 yards). This is ideal for the single traveller or the third member of a party, do look for more details under a separate listing

Guest access
Guests are very welcome to use the gardens and Orangery to relax during their stay. We have a wide selection of maps, guides and magazines that guests are welcome to use.
Our delicious English breakfast is served in the Orangery, using local ingredients as far as possible. Guests who prefer not to have a full English breakfast can also be catered for. We make our own bread and preserves.

Location

Cardinham, United Kingdom

This is a very rural area and there are lots of opportunities for walking and cycling. The Old School House is on the edge of Cardinham Forest which has newly developed mountain bike trails and many lovely walks. The National Trust House, Lanhydrock, is only 15 minutes away by car and the north and south coats about half an hour. There are no pubs or restaurants in the village but both are within 15 - 20 minutes by car, we are happy to make recommendations

I have lived in this house with my husband for thirty years and have been running bed and breakfast accommodation for over twenty years. We really enjoy having guests in our home and advising them on all the lovely places they can visit in this part of Cornwall. We have two grown up children and three grandchildren. I am a passionate gardener and am always happy to share my garden with guests. My husband, Mike, is a joiner and has built or made all the improvements to The Old School House. He has transformed it to a very comfortable family home. I couldn't live without a garden, books or my family and love this village and Cornwall which has been our home for so long. We travel to see our son who lives in New Zealand and go on shorter trips in the UK which usually involve bookshops as Mike is an avid book collector. We are very much country people having grown up in rural Cornwall and only lived away for a few years in our early twenties.
