I had a great stay in this house! The house is comfortable and spacious; there is plenty of space to lounge either inside or by the pool. The photos of the house are very accurate, I was pleased that the pool had a good size; and having a private pool was absolutely a plus!! The kitchen is well equipped, it has everything you need. Regarding the location, the house is close to town, it is about 10 -15 min walking, and around 5 min by car; you can access the beach either to San Juan del Sur Bay that it is right in the town, or some more private beaches that are about 7 to 8 Km from the house. Also, the hosts were nice and is very easy to reach them! Very much recommended.

Loved this place. The private pool was so nice to have. Was walking distance to town, about 10-15 minutes which kept us from going out one night. Though we were especially lazy on this vacation. From my experience you can't have both a great place with private pool that's also directly in town.

Glad you enjoyed your stay Brittany! Come back anytime.

Had an excellent stay! The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. The pool is bigger than most pools in San Juan and the house was really clean. Paul and Anne gave us a thorough run through of the house and area when we checked in and always had the answers to any questions we had. We loved our time here and will definitely be returning soon!

Happy to hear you enjoyed your stay Darren. We hope to see you and Rhea again at Casa Nanci!

We stayed at Casa Nanci for five nights in April. It is a lovely house situated on a beautiful piece of property and is only a 10-15 minute walk into town. The house is modern and comfortable, and is well stocked with useful household items that help made our stay more comfortable. The best part is certainly the outdoor space, which includes your own pool and multiple areas on the property where you can sit and lounge around in the sun or shade. The trees on the property attract a variety of beautiful birds and there is a partial view of the ocean from the upper patio. You can often hear the sound of crashing waves too, which makes it feel like you are truly on a tropical vacation. The hosts Paul and Anne were kind and attentive and took the time to go through everything with us when we arrived. They provided recommendations on everything from restaurants to beaches, and fun stuff to do. We had two days without power (which was no one’s fault, obviously) and no wifi in the beginning, but the hosts did everything they could to get the wifi working and communicate updates to us about the power outage. There is a small store (run by a very friendly lady) close to the house that is convenient for snacks, drinks and small grocery items. At night we would walk back from town and felt quite safe doing so. The road is dark, so if you do decide to walk (over taking a cab), I would recommend bringing a flashlight so drivers can see you. For us, the downside of this house was the fact that it comes with a “security guard” who comes between 5-6 pm every night and stays for about 12 hours. In actuality the security guard is a mumbling (kind of grumpy) senior citizen, who sleeps in random places around the property at night. It was very strange to say the least. It literally feels like an old homeless man comes to sleep on the property at night (note: he is NOT actually homeless, it just FEELS like that). While he does not have keys to the house (so he can’t come inside); if you want to go for an evening swim or stretch out on a lounger and star gaze, you can’t help but inevitably interrupt the old man sleeping outside. He awakes and starts shining his flashlight around, while you awkwardly wait for him to leave the area you want to occupy. After the first night, we talked to the hosts about the fact that we felt quite uncomfortable having this man sleeping outside at night. They were sympathetic to our concerns. As a compromise we asked if he could stay outside the gate of the property until midnight and then come in after that. On the second night the hosts spoke to the security guard about this and he begrudgingly (sort of) complied. He was however, mad at us...

Response from Paul:
Hi Royce and thank you for your feedback. Yes there is little we can do about power outages except let you know if they are scheduled! We usually take them as signs to go to the beach :) And we were happy to accommodate your request regarding staff. Just some small points of clarification. Santos is not a security guard but rather a night watchman. This is common practice in Nicaragua that home owners hire local members of the community for night watch and Santos has proven himself to be a loyal and diligent worker. He is elderly and does mumble a little and sometimes it can be difficult to understand him (or mistaken as mad). He really does take pride in his job and watches over not only the home itself but all guests as well. We hope this didn't detract from your stay and that you come back to visit us again in future!

Excellent place to stay. Near the city. The place and the pool were clean. Paul and Anna gave us really good information about the city. They had to wait for us a little bit because our shuttle was late. They were really cool about it. They even bought us a beer. Best experience with Airbnb.

Response from Paul:
Haha - well we did think a tasty cold beverage after traveling would be a nice welcome to town! But also really happy to hear you enjoyed your (EMAIL HIDDEN)e back and visit again!

Anne and I (Paul) are most recently from Vancouver, Canada and have been avid travellers for the past 20 years. It was during a trip to Honduras in 2005 that we first started thinking about owning vacation property ourselves and our home in San Juan del Sur is the happy culmination of those plans. When we're not taking care of our guests, you can usually find us at the beach, trying to surf or just relaxing in a hammock. An avid reader, Anne loves to collect books to share with our guests.
