Living and sleeping in Orient Express style converted railway carriages, guests are provided with self-contained accommodation suiting couples, families and groups. And as the retreat is single-hire, you won't be sharing with anyone else.

The space
Ruwenzori Retreat is the life work and passion of Scott McGregor. This themed bush retreat is built from vintage railway carriages and eclectic memorabilia, and sleeps 13 across a variety of beautifully restored historic coaches. An ideal getaway for friends and family, Ruwenzori is a truly unique place to stay.

Spend your days exploring the bush trails where granite boulders rise high above a wide variety of flora and an abundance of wildlife, or just relax reading a book in the hammock or sipping wine on the veranda, gazing out at this truly magical place.

Once an actor, TV presenter, and producer of railway-themed documentaries, I now run rail-themed tours across Australia and around the world with my travel company, Railway Adventures. Yep, I', what you call an uber rail fan! Ruwenzori has been a lifelong passion, starting 42 years ago when the first carriage arrived and took up residence on a dusty flat area on top of a mountain. And look at us now - the Orient Express of the central west!
