Nestled in a historic settlement surrounded by lush forests, The Bushmans is a charming miller’s cottage made for slow days together. Wake to birdsong and sunlight streaming through the trees, then wander hand in hand down to the lake for a refreshing morning swim. Spend your afternoons lazing on the verandah with a book or exploring forest trails before the softness of evening settles in. Escape to the woods to rest, reconnect and unwind.
The space
The cottage is a humble space thoughtfully designed for relaxation and comfort. Cozy up with your favourite book and a glass of local wine in front of the wood fire, or retreat to one of the bedrooms, each featuring a queen bed and luxurious linens, promising the best night's sleep of your life. The vintage windows are perfect for stargazing or bird watching, with the resident kookaburras popping by to say hello. The kitchen is a cooks delight, fully equipped with everything you need for a perfect stay, including a french press and espresso maker for our coffee lovers.
Outside, indulge in a bath under the stars or toast marshmallows by the rustic firepit. The Bushmans is perfect for nature lovers, with a short 3 minute stroll to the lakeside for a refreshing dip or simply to enjoy the stunning landscape. There are numerous bush walks nearby, including a trail around the lake so you can enjoy scenic views from every angle. One extra thing to note: our loo is located under the back verandah, embracing the cottage’s original heritage charm. Don’t worry though, we’ve provided cosy robes to keep you warm on those late-night trips outside!
For those preferring indoor comforts, The Bushmans is stocked with a selection of games, books and cards for your entertainment. Embrace the opportunity to fully disconnect; there is no TV in the cottage, but feel free to bring along a laptop or tablet to enjoy your favourite shows while cuddled up in bed. WiFi is included with a fantastic signal for all our digital nomads.
With the surrounding wine regions and natural wonders of the Southern Forests, you are spoiled for choice. Experience the tranquillity of Western Australia's untouched beauty with a stay at The Bushmans.

The entire home, backyard and verandah are exclusively for your use. The cottage is situated in a historical milltown settlement, so while the neighbours are nearby, they cherish the peace and serenity as much as you do. The locals are a friendly bunch, with artists, photographers and nature lovers alike all enjoying their forest escapes.
Other things to note
For the full Bushmans experience, you will find a flushing loo just a short stroll out the back under the verandah. Safety is important to us, so please kindly note that The Bushmans is not suitable for children or pets due to the delicate furnishings within the home and to protect our resident wallabies and kookaburras who like to enjoy the backyard. For those with mobility concerns, please be aware that there are steps to access both the front and back of the cottage as well as a step-in bath.
Basic pantry items are provided including ground coffee beans, tea, salt, sugar, pepper, spices, oats and olive oil. There are no shops or petrol stations in Quinninup (except for the local tavern) so we recommend stocking up on any additional supplies in Manjimup or Pemberton before your arrival.
