Tucked next to a quiet dam on our estate, this vintage caravan offers peace, privacy, and charm in the heart of Forth. Watch ducks, platypuses, Cedric the donkey and Clover the cow. Enjoy a walk through the two mazes, book a forest sauna ($50 for our guests), and soak in your own woodfired bath under the stars on your private deck. During school hours, you may hear the joyful sounds of children playing, a happy reminder of village life. Dine at the Purple House Kitchen, open Wed–Sat, 10 AM–4 PM

The space
The Platypus Pond caravan is a charming, thoughtfully styled vintage retreat, ideal for a peaceful nature-based escape. Inside, you’ll find a compact but well-equipped kitchenette with electric hotplates, microwave, and all the essentials for simple cooking. The open-plan layout includes a comfy bed, and cosy seating—perfect for unwinding after a day outdoors. Filtered drinking water is on tap, and hot showers are available in the nearby bathroom block.

Step outside to your private deck overlooking the dam, where you might spot ducks, native hens, or even a platypus. Firewood is provided for the magical woodfired bath under the stars (allow 2 hours to heat), and you’re welcome to book a rejuvenating session in the forest wood fired sauna ($50).

As our guest, you can also explore the beautifully maintained mazes and labyrinths on the property. The Purple House Kitchen is open to the public from Wednesday to Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM, serving nourishing food, organic coffee, and delicious treats made with love.

Whether you're reconnecting with nature, seeking creative inspiration, or simply craving solitude, Platypus Pond is your perfect hideaway.

Guest access
Wander through lush gardens, 5 acres of river flats, two sprawling mazes, peaceful labyrinths, and our mature deciduous forest for a magical experience.

Light the riverside fire pit or glide your canoe along the Forth River.

For a unique experience, pre-book our forest wood-fired sauna for six ($50 per hour) by contacting Pete.

Complete it with a cold outdoor shower, an ice bath, or return to your own wood-fired outdoor bath.

A local store, bottle shop, and the Forth pub are 500m away.

The Purple House Kitchen, known for its hearty, healthy eats, is open from Wednesdays to Saturdays and is on the same property.

Meet our friendly residents—Cedric the donkey, Clover the cow, the resident platypus, and curious ducks.
