You'll be staying with real life gourmet farmers. We raise Berkshire pigs free range, and produce delicious pork sausages and bacon right here on the farm. A tour of the farm is included in your stay, and barbecue pack of produce. Quality bed linen, a warm welcome, a small cellar of Tamar wines and a a library of books & DVDs.

The space
With the rise of interest in the food and wine of our lovely island, there's no better way to get a taste of rural life than at a farm stay in Tasmania. In the guest rooms at Langdale Farm, you're in the heart of the Tamar Valley, close to the wineries, and near to Tasmania's most elegant city, Launceston. It's the ideal place from which to explore.

Farm owners Oliver and Fiona Stocker are the resident gourmet farmers. Oliver raises rare breed pigs, Berkshires and Saddlebacks, free range, and produces a small range of delicious pork products - including traditional English style sausages, and nitrate-free bacon smoked on the farm. The product is sold at farmers' market Harvest Launceston, fortnightly.

Stay at Langdale Farm and you'll find your fridge stocked with a complimentary barbecue pack of our product to enjoy during your stay - or take away. The kitchenette is stocked with breakfast provisions, and further product is usually available for purchase. The modern, clean kitchenette is equipped with microwave, toaster, kettle and there is a guest barbecue right outside your door.

We offer travellers a home from home - tranquillity, a warm welcome and some creature comforts. A tour of the farm is included - meet the pigs at feeding time, visit piglets in the birthing shed, hear about free range farming. If you're a foodie, Oliver loves nothing better than talking about the smokers he makes. We are delighted to received consistent five star reviews for the warmth of our welcome, and look forward to hosting you at Langdale Farm!

If you're a wine lover looking for accommodation and exploring the Tamar Valley wine region, you're in the perfect spot. We're on the Tamar Valley Wine Route, close to many vineyards and wineries, boutique family owned businesses and great names. An easy and delightful day's driving will see you visiting many. Fiona can recommend the cellar doors to suit your taste, and we stock a small range of Tamar wines for purchase.

Our farm stay is dog friendly to four legged people and their owners. There is ample space for a small to medium sized dog to run and be off-leash in the garden, under supervision. The farm stay is on a quiet, rural road and is fenced and gated at the front. Dogs should still be supervised. We have chickens, pigs and sheep in paddocks which are visible from the farm stay and ask that dogs not be allowed to bother these. We also ask that dogs don't occupy the bed or other furniture, and bring their own bedding.

Our own dog Alice is happy to play with other dogs who would like some company. If your dog prefers your company, Alice is kept round the back with us. On our blog you will find suggestions of dog friendly places to go exploring nearby - walks, beaches, cafes and vineyards in the Tamar Valley. We look forward to welcoming you and your dog for a stay at Langdale Farm.

Our Farm Stay in Tasmanian is ideally placed for exploring.
Around 45 minutes from both Launceston Airport and the Spirit of Tasmania Ferry at Devonport.
On the Tamar Valley Wine Route in one of the world's top wine regions. We know many of the wineries and their owners personally and stock a small range of their wines.
Our guest rooms are spacious, private and comfortable and located in one wing of our house, yours for the duration of your stay.
A farm tour is included in your stay. Chat to Oliver and Fiona about rural life, and running a farm and food business. If it's a production week, you may get to see the smokers in action!

Guest access
Enjoy views across the paddocks, into the bush and the vegetable garden. Visit the pigs - and perhaps piglets in the birthing shed! Feed the chooks – there’s a jar of chook feed by the door.

Other things to note
This is a working farm, and it looks like one! The grounds are tidy but are occupied by sheep, chooks and pigs, and are not manicured gardens.

Our farm dog Alice is friendly and will visit you during your stay. We welcome your dogs - please keep them on a leash to keep our livestock safe.

Tasmania, Australia

Langdale Farm is in Glengarry in the West Tamar valley. It is 30 minutes driving time to Launceston, and is a perfect first or last stop before or after the ferry (50 mins) – but we recommend you stay longer and make the Tamar Valley a destination during your stay - particularly if you are interested in wine.

The Tamar Valley Wine Route features some of the top premium producers of sparkling wine in Australia, and many producers of the wines Tasmania is noted for, including Pinot Noir.

There are places to explore in every direction.

The Tamar Valley now also boasts three festivals - Farm Gate Festival in November, the Tamar Valley Writers' Festival in September, and Effervescence, a sparkling wine festival at Josef Chromy Winery.

During your stay
While we like to respect your privacy, we are usually around and happy to help with visitor tips and recommendations. Oliver loves nothing more than to talk about pigs, pork, sausages and smoking! Fiona can tell you all about local beauty spots, Tasmanian wines and wineries, and visitor attractions. If we are not available in person, we are both just a mobile phone call away. (Telstra offers the best coverage in Tasmania, other carriers may be patchy.)

Visit the Langdale Farm website for our recommendations on what to do in the Tamar Valley – there is plenty to do and see here.
