Very nice rustic loft cabin! The location borders the Cherokee National Forrest and an old wooded road along a stream which is perfect for morning walks with your coffee. It is ideally located between some good antiquing areas in Virginia, Tennessee & North Carolina. Checkout the little Flea Market Fridays or Saturdays just South in Mountain City, Tennessee. Also, close to the very cool town of Damascus, Virginia. A must do experience nearby is the bike "Creeper Trail" up to the top of White Top Mountain (with your bike or a rental bike) for a 13 mile plus ride down through gorgeous wooded trails, green Virginia pastures, over numerous wooden bridges and streams. Truely, a sensational experience for anyone, at ANY age! The only part of my body that got tired was my hands, from squeezing the (URL HIDDEN) Awesome Experience! I highly recommend Marilyn's little rustic barn "Loft Cabin" ....I would definitely come back! Great job Marilyn!

We were looking for a 2 night getaway in upper East Tennessee for birding, hiking & relaxing and found Marilyn's place at Gentry Creek Farm. The bonus was the fact that it is an active farm for retired horses, which is one of my most favorite of God's creations! As others have mentioned, the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, the King size bed is very comfortable and the small porch is perfect for morning coffee, birdwatching and checking out the antics of the horses. There's a nice nearby trail to Gentry Creek Falls (but be prepared for about 14 wet stream crossings - one way), or you can walk along a Cherokee National Forest road along Gentry Creek. We also gently interacted with a few of the horses, who readily accepted a couple of carrots. Overall, a great relaxing experience and we highly recommend Marilyn's place.

I was expecting Marilyn's place to be gorgeous based on the photos and the description but when I arrived, WOW! I was blown away by how peaceful it was. The scenery is beautiful with the horse pastures, mountains in the background, and forest to the side. The living space was fantastic. It felt like a quiet, country home with a cozy bed and super soft bed sheets. The kitchen area was ideal for cooking food and making coffee in the morning. Marilyn was easy to communicate with and was very kind. I was happy to be without cell phone service although I think maybe I missed that part when reading the guide about the farm. We drove into nearby Damascus for a meal and were greeted with so many kind people. We didn't have the opportunity to hike nearby Gentry Falls, but we will definitely return in the future! Overall, I would highly recommend Marilyn's place. It was lovely beyond words.

Lovely weekend at a beautiful place. Marilyn made us feel welcome but gave us privacy. Communications were easy and prompt. When we asked about a grill she didn't have one but had one in place before our arrival. Fully stocked kitchen, very happy to find the French press and glad we brought coffee beans and a grinder. Marilyn even had a bottle of wine waiting for our arrival It was an ideal mini vacation. Fly fishing and bicycling. Cocktails and dinner on the balcony. Watching the sunset over the hills and horses...

This has been my favorite airbnb experience. We were spending the weekend and wanted to stay near the outfitters for the Virginia Creeper Trail. The farm is located in a beautiful area that is a destination in itself. A to Z Market (a combination of thrift store, convenience store, and a better breakfast than you'll find in town) is located just a couple of miles away. The apartment itself is ready to live in - the kitchen is well-stocked and we cooked meals there (Food City in Damascus has everything you need). Everything was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the wifi and shower were strong. We had a wonderful stay, and hope to return--there is so much to do, and we especially want to hike the Gentry Creek Falls trail that is right next door. Thank you!

The setting was beautiful and unbeatable if you like beautiful views. The apartment was very nice and well stocked. Although it is not right in the middle of the "action", the benefits are well worth the drive.

Beautiful horse farm. Marilyn met us at check in and was considerate of our comfort. We had a great bike ride on the Virginia Creeper which is why we came to this location. If you are looking for action well this is not it unless you like walking out the door into the national forest for a hike to the waterfalls. We were lucky with cool weather in August to enjoy sleeping with the windows open, You realize how quiet the world can be. This is an active and busy farm. Marilyn, her family and staff were all friendly and busy. We wish we have an extra day to learn more about the activities at the farm, but I am sure we would have slowed down a list of never ending chores. Enjoy this location for the serenity, bring a bottle of wine and cheese and crackers let nature be the entertainment.
