The space
There is a quiet elegance to Old Wetmore.
Built from local sandstone in 1824 and thoughtfully restored by a master craftsman, the homestead honours its rich heritage while offering the comforts of a refined country retreat.

Original sandstone walls, hand-crafted Tasmanian oak features and carefully considered furnishings speak to the home's history, creating spaces that feel both timeless and welcoming.

Accommodating up to eight guests across four generous bedrooms and two bathrooms, Old Wetmore is equally suited to family gatherings, celebrations with friends, or simply taking time away from the pace of everyday life.

Beyond the homestead, uninterrupted views stretch across the surrounding countryside. The property enjoys one kilometre of frontage to the renowned Macquarie River, while the lake at the front of the house is frequented by ducks, swans and, on occasion, a visiting platypus.

Spend your days exploring the historic village of Ross, discovering the heritage of Tasmania's Midlands, or simply settling into the rhythm of life on the property. As evening falls, light the fire, pour a glass of Tasmanian wine and embrace the quiet that surrounds you.

Guest access
Guests have exclusive access to the entire homestead and its fully fenced yard.
There is an outdoor power point in the carpark on the southern side of the property where EV cars can be charged.

Please note that pets are not permitted, as Old Wetmore is located on a working sheep farm.

The homestead is a two-storey residence, with 12 timber stairs leading to the upper level where additional bedrooms and bathrooms are located. Due to the staircase and heritage nature of the property, it may not be suitable for toddlers or very young children.

Old Wetmore is located on a working sheep farm in Tasmania's Northern Midlands. Guests have exclusive access to the homestead and fenced yard, however you may occasionally see farm activity during your stay. As a working farm, pets are not permitted.

Access to the property requires crossing a railway line. Train movements are infrequent, however guests must stop, read and obey all railway crossing signage.

Water is supplied from the property's rainwater and river-fed systems, so we kindly ask guests to use it thoughtfully.
