Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Welcome to Hilltop Eco, a sustainable alpine escape and Brumby sanctuary. Relax in our Scandinavian-inspired cabin, blending warmth, simplicity, and eco-conscious design.

Enjoy sweeping mountain views, peaceful surroundings, and witness our mob of once wild brumbies wandering across the landscape.

Set on a private 100-acre property, just 15 minutes from Jindabyne and 35 minutes from Thredbo and Perisher.

Your own space, surrounded by peace and nature.

The space
Perched high in the hills surrounding Lake Jindabyne at 1,150 metres, Hilltop Eco offers views that stretch as far as Snowy Plain, framed by surrounding alpine ranges. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, but still within easy reach for everything you need.

In winter, the elevation brings frequent snowfall, and you may be lucky enough to witness snow falling during your stay, with snow-capped peaks creating a truly magical alpine setting.

In summer, Lake Jindabyne is just 5 minutes down the road, ideal for swimming, kayaking, fishing, or enjoying relaxed lakeside picnics.

The property is alive with wildlife, including kangaroos, wombats, echidnas, lizards, and an abundance of birdlife. A mob of twelve once-wild Brumbies also roam the land, adding to the unique character of this special place.

Spend your days soaking in the quiet and open space, and your evenings on the deck watching golden sunsets give way to dark, star-filled skies untouched by city light. On colder nights, relax inside by the fireplace and enjoy the warmth of the cabin.

Hilltop Eco is fully off-grid, powered by advanced solar technology and supplied with exceptional bore water drawn from 120 metres deep in solid granite. Independently tested by ALS Laboratories, the water is free from chemicals and naturally rich in minerals — pure mountain water that guests often comment on for its taste and softness. The cabin also features a modern, well-maintained composting toilet, designed for comfort and hygiene while minimising environmental impact.

The cabin includes a simple kitchenette suitable for light meals. We provide a selection of essentials so you can settle in comfortably, no matter your arrival time. Enjoy organic ground coffee (French press and moka pot), Urban Brew pods, T2 teas, sugar, granola and oats. A small bottle of full cream milk is supplied — just let us know in advance if you prefer an alternative.

We also encourage guests to explore Jindabyne’s vibrant dining scene, with a range of cafés, pubs, and restaurants only a short drive away.

We’ve created this space to share with our guests the peace, beauty, and connection to nature that we’re lucky enough to experience here every day.

Guest access
Accessed via the main driveway, a separate track leads to the cabin, located over 500 meters from the main residence for a secluded stay. Guests can park just meters from the cabin for convenience.

We recommend following the directions on the Airbnb app and the signs on our property for easy access.

Other things to note
•We aim to make your stay as private and peaceful as possible. At times, you might see or hear us tending to the brumbies or doing property work, and neighbours may be doing the same on their land—but these will only be short disturbances, if at all. (Feel free to join us at the round yard if you see us there!).

•The property is home to 12 rescued Brumbies, trained by Snowy Brumby Horsemanship. We encourage guests to go for a walk to find them, but please read our welcome book first — it has all the information you need to know.

• Our brumbies roam freely on the property. After you park, just close the gate behind you to keep them away from your car.

•We emphasise that the cabin uses a waterless composting toilet to avoid any surprises on arrival. It looks like a standard toilet, is eco-friendly, and actually emits less odour than a regular one. You can search "Clivus Multrum Toilet" for more info.

•There’s no Wi-Fi to encourage you to switch off and unwind, but full 4G/5G mobile coverage is available.

•We recommend using the fireplace in winter to reduce power use, especially during cloudy periods and during the night.

•Firewood is provided during the colder months or if a cold front is expected, and can also be restocked on request at any stage.

•Please respect our 2-person-per-booking policy, or reach out if you have any questions.

•Our property is not suitable for children, though we’re happy to make exceptions for babies and toddlers who aren’t yet mobile.

•Caravans are not permitted to house additional guests.

We’re a family of four with two young boys and a kelpie named Blue. We moved from the coast to the mountains after COVID and have since welcomed ten once-wild brumbies onto our property to live their best life. We love sharing this place with guests and have been genuinely overwhelmed by the feedback so far. It means a lot when people describe their time here as an experience, not just a stay.
