Bed + Bauhaus at Yallingup offers guests two well-designed and beautifully crafted private suites finished in a contemporary Scandinavian design style that is refreshingly different; spacious, comfortable, environmentally responsible and eco-friendly. NB: When the listing shows 'booked' - the second suite might be available (only one suite is listed here), so please contact me to check!

The space
We offer simplicity - uncluttered space and exceptional comfort while meeting your fundamental travel needs. Each 45sq.m. suite is solar passive, open plan, has 3m ceilings and provides for all your travel needs - including sleep, relaxation, organisation, communication, feeling secure + healthy, refuelling, inspiration and communication.

Guest access
The guest suites are located in a separate wing of an architectural complex incorporating living quarters, design studio and a large workshop - a project documented as 'Maison de Cour Yallingup - an Australian courtyard house'. Each suite has a private access through a separate courtyard direct from a parking area.

What to bring with you:
> Beach towels and picnic rug if required (but we have some if you forget yours).

> Slippers or thick socks. The concrete floors are wonderful for their look, for allergy sufferers (with less dust, dirt, pollen or other allergens than carpet) and for thermal mass - they absorb the sun helping with passive warming of the suite, but can be a little cold first thing in the morning!

> A selection of European and regular pillows have been provided, but if you have a special pillow you travel with, we will provide clean cases for the duration of your stay.

> We have provided Vasse Virgin natural liquid soap, shower gel and shampoo for your cleansing enjoyment. (Please note, these are refillable, not gift packs to take away). You may wish to bring hair conditioner and favourite toiletries so long as they are NOT anti-bacterial (for example - please do not use anti-bacterial mouth wash or anti-bacterial face wash).

> The suite has a hairdryer, surge protected power boards, and we have a laptop we can lend guests.

> You will find a selection of beverage items in your suite including black + green tea, coffee pods + bags, hot chocolate, raw sugar, and semi-skim milk. We will try to accommodate alternative preferences if we are given with sufficient notice, but failing that it might be best to bring a small supply of anything you specifically prefer with you to ensure you are catered for.

> You may like to start the day with your favourite food. So you can prepare your own breakfast in the comfort of your suite while enjoying the view, we have provided a toaster, kettle, coffee (pod) machine, bar fridge, cutting mats/knives and crockery. We are also happy to lend you food/cereal storage containers and tablecloths if required!

> Please remember personal cooking/food preparation equipment is not permitted in the suite and there are no outdoor cooking facilities on site. You may bring picnic items or a takeaway meal to the suite, as long as care is taken to prevent stains on fabrics, floor or timber, and the suite remains odor-free.

Other things to note
Material finishes (and cleaning products) are environmentally responsible and eco-friendly (e.g. VOC free), providing a hygenic, healthy indoor environment. The anerobic treatment unit (ATU) on site is a ‘state of the art’ waste water processing system, and highly sensitive to chemicals and foreign objects - kinder on our bodies and kinder on our environment.
To keep the ATU enzymes happy, we ask that you do not wash up in the suite (we clean for you!), only flush the eco-toilet paper provided down the toilet, and do not use anti-bacterial products of any kind during your stay (ask for alternatives if you have specific needs).

Yallingup, Western Australia, Australia

Bed+ Bauhaus is located on 3.5 acres in Yallingup's picturesque Millbrook Valley. We are happy to provide 'Bauhaus Nosebags' (snackpacks), but encourage you to explore all the wonderful local eateries, fine producers at farmers markets, and delightful places (beach and forest) to picnic!
Near: Under 5 minutes drive to Little Fish, Smith's Beach, Goanna Cafe,
Nearby: Drive 5 - 10 minutes to reach Yallingup, Dunsborough, Injinup Beach, numerous galleries, cafes, restaurants and wineries
Not so far: Margaret River and Busselton are a very enjoyable 25-30 minute drive, with lots to see and do on the way.
Bit further: Augusta would take just over an hour to drive south on leafy Cave's Road.

Hi! Thank you for your interest in staying at this newly built design studio/residential/guest suite complex in Yallingup - you will be most welcome to join us. This is a delightful part of the beautiful Margaret River region, and a great location for visiting all the main attractions. Our aim was to create a place of 'hygge'; suites designed to be comfortable, practical and calming, to be refreshing in style (our interpretation of Scandinavian modern), and to be as eco-friendly as possible - gentle on you and on the environment. Although I have been in Australia for many years now, I trained as a design professional in the UK. John trained in design at RMIT in Melbourne and worked in Brunei for a few years. Our experience is mostly international; ranging from resort design, urban design and master-planning to hospitality management. While still consulting, a PhD in architecture/interiors (study on creativity + self-build) provided a good excuse to meet Kevin McCloud! Now one foot is in practice, one in research/education, and both hands are currently occupied 'on the tools' completing the build project (+ making coffee!). My head? In the sky like most designers; new projects to start, new ideas or challenges to resolve, new things to make (interiors, furniture, clothing), new ways to keep the fur kids entertained and of course new guests to meet...

During your stay
While we have designed and built the property, we would rather you
think of us as on-site managers rather than owners. We are happy for you to wander round the site and ring the doorbell if you require anything, but we respect your privacy and simply request that you respect ours.
