About this listing
For a truly unique experience in Sydney, spend a night on the water aboard our brand new Bavaria Cruiser 33. Located adjacent to Luna Park and the Harbour Bridge, you will be able to fall asleep to the sights and sounds of Sydney Harbour in the background. We can also take you on a sailing tour around the Harbour at an extra cost.
Our yacht stay has been featured on Airbnb's "feel like they're living in the movies" promotion and Airbnb's Instagram feed.
HOW IT ALL WORKS:
We will pick you up at Lavender Bay wharf when you first check-in (it's right on the other side of the Harbour Bridge from the city). If you choose the evening sailing tour, we will take you out around the harbour and then leave you at our mooring in Lavender Bay. Otherwise, we will take you straight to the mooring, where you will stay the night.
In the morning, we will come and take you back to the wharf to drop you off (or out for a morning tour is you so choose).
From April - October, check-in time will be 530pm (except during Vivid, when it will be 730pm). It can be flexible but please discuss that with us prior to your arrival.
From April - October, check-out time is 1030am. It can be flexible but please discuss that with us prior to your arrival.
If you are doing the morning or sunset tours along with your stay, then the check-in/check-out times will vary.
Equipped with a galley, spacious saloon, bathroom and large shaded cockpit suitable for outdoor dining make this yacht the perfect getaway.
Length: 33ft (10m)
Engine: 28HP Volvo-Penta Saildrive
Sprayhood, bimini cover, top loading fridge, VHF radio, fold down swim platform, external hot & cold water shower.
Since the yacht is in commercial survey, we have safety gear for all on board including fire extinguishers, life jackets, life rings and inflatable torch.
If you're interested in coming on a sailing your with us, it will cost $50 per person (save $25). You can either choose the sunset tour or the morning tour the day after.
- Includes a 30min stop at Athol Bay, next to Taronga Zoo for a swim and some relaxation
- Unbeatable views of Sydney's best attractions including Luna Park, Darling Harbour, the Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Fort Denison and the amazing bays and waterfront mansions that adorn Sydney Harbour
- Chance to take the helm and to learn some sailing basics
Please note that the $50 per person price is for one of our group tours and may include other paying passengers. If you would like a private sailing tour, it will be $300 total (you can bring up to 10 people). Whichever option you choose, you will aways have the boat to yourself overnight
UNABLE TO STAY OVERNIGHT?
If you are not able to stay with us overnight, for whatever reason, feel free to book a sailing tour with us. It costs $75, which is less than half the price of other charter companies in Sydney. Either send me a message or book directly through Sailaway Sydney
WHAT TO BRING
- You’ll need some food for dinner and breakfast. Since its a little tricky to cook on a yacht, we recommend that you bring food that is ready to eat (think of it as a picnic on a yacht). We have fridge on board that you can use
- Drinks (alcohol is fine)
- Swimming Gear
WHAT NOT TO BRING
Please limit your bags to one soft bag per person (plus your food and drinks) and please wear soft-soled (non marking) shoes. Please don’t wear heels, black shoes or suitcases as it causes significant damage to the fibreglass.
• What is a mooring?
A mooring is a buoy in the middle of the bay. Hence, the yacht is not at a marina, where you can easily walk on and off the yacht. To get on and off, we use either a powerboat during business hours or a dinghy after 430pm and before 930am.
• Do I need a boating licence or boating experience?
Not at all. Our skipper will drive the yacht during the sailing tours and to get on and off the mooring. You are welcome to join in when we are sailing to help crewing and take control of the helm as well.
• I have a boat licence – can I drive the boat myself?
Yes, we offer bareboat charter options.
• Can we get off the boat?
Yes, you can certainly go for a swim. However, since the yacht is on a mooring, getting onto dry land isn't straightforward. If you do need to get off the yacht in the evening, please contact me to make arrangements and we may be able to leave a dinghy with you.
• Will staying on the yacht be safe?
Absolutely! The yacht is brand new and equipped with all the safety equipment since it is in commercial use and NSW Maritime have very strict regulations in that regard.
• Will I get sea sick?
It depends. Most people that stay on the yacht have no problems but if you are inclined to sea sickness, we do recommend that you take some sea sickness pills with you just in case.
• What are the facilities like?
We have a 150L water tank on board. Electricity is supplied by two batteries on board. There are no power points that you can use however we use have a 12V plug that you can use to keep your phone charged (please bring your own USB connection). Since we have limited resources in terms of water, electricity and waste/toilet disposal facilities, please bear that in mind and use only what you need
• What about children?
We are happy to have kids on board. However, they must weigh more than 20kg since thats the size of the approved life jacks that we have on board. So unfortunately, that means no infants and toddlers.
Hope to see you soon :)

Greetings! I'm a 27yr old from Sydney. I graduated from the University of Sydney in 2011 and then decided to travel the world for a little more than 2 years. I've been round the world and around again (as you can see from the countries I've lived/visited section)
I have just completed a 2yr Master in International Business at the Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen, and have returned to Sydney for the time being. Have no idea what my future plans are but I can definitely host you if you happen to be in Sydney while I am home.
At the moment, I've just started a new company, Sailaway Sydney, to provide sailing tours on Sydney Harbour that are affordable for backpackers and students.
