This is the ideal place for a family gathering, around the fire place or with good weather around the private pool. While the kids have endless possibilities to play. But you can also enjoy the privacy of your large bedroom.
This large, renovated farmhouse is at about one hour drive from Cologne and Trier, in the beautiful Eifel. Here is a lot to do, just look into my travel guide.
There is also a yogafloor available!

The space
Besides nature lovers, families with children will feel very happy in this house. Whether the weather be good or bad, for them there is always something to do. In the garden there is the playhouse with the slide, a sand box, the swings and the trampoline. And of course from May till September there is the pool. But when it is raining the kids will play at the attic, with lots of toys, swings and slides. With a nice view on the living room. We think that when the kids are having a good time, their parents will be having a good time too!

- The first floor and the attic
Here is the 7 meters high living room, with open kitchen and a kitchen island. While cooking here you can see your friends and family sitting around the fire place or at the dinner table. And at the same time you can see the kids playing at the attic.

Behind this attic we can open the 60 m2 yogafloor for you. Ask for the possibilities to use this room.

At the first floor, behind a door, you will also find three large bedrooms and a bathroom with toilet, bathtub and massage shower.

The first floor is at the same level as the garden and the terrace. From here your walks into the beautifull surrounding nature will start.

- Ground floor
At this floor are three large bedrooms. Two of them are interconnected! That means you have to walk from the first through the second room, to reach the hallway. Therefor these two rooms are specially suited for a family. The third bedroom is extra large: it has its own fireplace, a dinner table and doors that lead to a second terrace and directly to the pool.

The newly renovated bathroom has a large shower and a toilet. This floor has its own smaller kitchen, so you are able to cook here as well. And here is the entrance door that will lead you to the street.

Persons who really want peace of mind can take a chair and go to the higher parts of the large garden. Sitting in the shadow of a large tree you will have wonderfull views at the meadows and woods of the surrounding Eifel area.

- The swimming pool
Safely between garden doors there is a large swimming pool (5 by 10 meters). When the weather is good you can enjoy the pool in the months May till September. The pool is heated by a solar boiler and cleaned with saltwater electrolisys. This is much better for the skin, the eyes and the environment than chlorine.

Guest access
!! Please keep in mind we charge separately for the utility costs (pellets and electricity). And we ask our guests to bring their own bedlinen. See under Other things to note.

Both at the top floor and at the first floor can sleep six people. In total 12 persons. When booking for more then 4 persons, the price on this booking site will increase with € 10,- per extra person per night, on top of the basic price. From 7 paying guests you can use both floors. With a smaller number of guests the possibility exists that the (smaller) first floor can be rented out to other people. Smaller groups who want to use the whole house are therefor advised to book for 7 persons. Kids till the age of two don't have to be taken into account while booking an apartment.

Other things to note
! We ask our guests to bring their own bed linen, towels and tea-towels! Unfortunately we are not able to wash the linen and towels ourselves every week. For all beds (90x200cm) are pillows and comforters (140x200cm) available. And also extra blankets.

! Because the house is very spacious the costs for energy can be high, depending on how generous the occupants will use it. Specialy in the colder months. Therefor we charge the costs forthe pellet-heating and electricity separately. I can read the meters over the internet, but for all certainty I ask our guests to make a picture of the meters when they arrive. When they leave we will calculate the costs, € 0,25 per Kwh and € 0,25 per kg pellets. We ask to hand the total amount in cash to the neighbor, or to dispose it in a box in the house.

Thanks to the large sunboiler (for hot water) the energy costs will be relatively low in the summer. But in the winter these costs can be € 20,- per day. You can use wood from our barn, we charge € 15,- for a handcart (about 40kg of wood).

As we use solar power for hot water, pellets and wood (from the neighborhood) for the heating and electricity from green sources, your stay will be climate neutral.

! Coming early or staying longer
Check in is from 15:00 hours and check out is till 11:00 hours. Depending on the availability of the house and after consulting us you are allowed to arrive earlier or to leave later. We charge € 10,- per extra hour stay with a maximum of € 25,- per day

! We only accept families and groups of older people. Not groups of younger people.
The house is detached, but the neighbors live nearby. We promised them that our guests park at the right place and make not too much noise. Specially in the evenings and on Sundays. As younger people in groups of friends tend to drink more and make more noise, we unfortunately have to decline their request to stay at our place. We are sorry to disappoint you about this.

Location

Rockeskyll, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany

Our holiday house is called “Haus am Vulkan”. It is situated at the outskirts of the village called Rockeskyll, at the base of an old vulcano called “Rockeskyller Kopf”. The house is the last on a quiet road, which leads up to the vulcano. From here you can make different walks and bycicle tours, at all sides of the village.
A view kilometers further the towers of the Kasselburg look upon the green surroundings. There are a restaurant, a playground and a children's farm. Every afternoon there is a show with birds of prey and wolves are being fed. Bigger wildparcs, both too with large playgrounds, are in Daun and in Gondorf. See also my travel guide.

Everywhere in the neighborhood it's nice to cycle or to walk, over the quiet country roads that will lead you over the hills. There are also many bicycle paths, like the one that goes over an old railtrack, all the time descending, till you reach the lovely village of Bernkastel-Kues at the Moselle. From there you can return with a special bicycle bus. In the neighbouring Pelm and also in Daun you can rent all sorts of bicycles.

In the winter there are many days that you can sledge or ski. Like on the slopes near the nice village of Prüm, about 30 minutes away.

The lovely nature and the wildparcs are for many people an important reason to visit the Eifel. But after about an hour drive you can be in beautiful city's like Cologne, Trier, Bonn and Koblenz.

I am a busy family man, raising three young kids. The rest of the hours that I have I put in bringing people together. In my construction business, in my multicultural neighborhood and at the school of my kids. I love to cross cultural borders and to find out were people can really find it each other. Airbnb is also a fantastic way to meet people from different backgrounds.

During your stay
During your stay I will be in the Netherlands. But the keys are 24/7 available, using the keysafe. And I will permanently be available over the phone and app, for assistance and advice. When assistance on the spot is necessary, the opposite neighbor always wants to help. He will also check the house, shortly after the guests have left, to see if the house was left in a good and tidy state.
