Description

The space

Our home is on 10 acres of land with beautiful views to the Pyrenees mountains. The studio accommodation is a stand alone with private access. We are establishing an orchard and have grown our own vegetables and herbs. There is an outdoor bar-b-q for guests to use. We share our home with Max our little Jack Russell dog, and Geraldine our pet sheep who enjoys a stroll down the lane with us and Max. There is a pony and a horse which are agisted on the property, their mum comes daily to feed and check them. We also have a dam which attracts water birds which you can watch as they feed off the yabbies.

Guest access

The studio offers accommodation for 2-4 guests. There is a bedroom with a queen bed for 2 guests. The lounge area has a queen size sofa bed with an innerspring mattress, catering for 2 guests. The studio contains a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with separate shower and toilet, lounge area and dining area with views over the Pyrenees mountains. The studio is fitted with modern amenities with split system AC, flat screen TV and appliances. All linens and toiletries supplied.
You can sit on the front verandah and enjoy a tea, coffee, or glass of wine as you view stunning sunsets over the Pyrenees. Guests are encouraged to sit outside at night to relax around a fire pit (weather permitting) and observe the night sky, where constellations and Milky are stunningly clear.

Interaction with guests

We will be available to answer any questions guests may have during their stay. We can offer recommendations for activities and sight seeing in the area at their request.

The neighbourhood

Avoca is a picturesque town in the heart of the Pyrenees district. There are many activities and interesting places to visit all in a short driving distance. The area is renowned for the wineries, of which some offer lunches and are open daily. There are national parks which are ideal for bushwalking, bike riding, photography and kangaroo spotting. The town has most amenities including: chemist, Doctors clinic, bakery, IGA supermarket, cafes, hotels with award winning meals, OP shops, news agent, library and resource centre. You will enjoy the historic buildings and ample parking spaces.

Getting around

You will need your own transport to get around Avoca. However there is a daily train from Melbourne to Maryborough and we would be able offer transport to and from Maryborough by arrangement.

Other things to note

We can accommodate up to four adults, or two adults and two children. We have a range of toys and books and DVDs for children as we often have our own grandchildren visiting and understand their needs.

Penny seems lovely and her place is fabulous, we had a great stay. It is right next to their house but so private, it also has a lovely outlook over the paddock. Penny has gone to great lengths with the 'little touches' and it makes the stay extra good. Towels, bedding, toiletries etc were beautiful. And the breakfast left for us to prepare was very generous. The place itself was big enough to be very comfortable for the 3 of us and the kitchen really well equipped. The kids loved the farm animals and I liked the peacefulness of being on the edge of town. If we were back in the region I'd definitely stay again.

It was an absolute delight staying at Penny's. We came in to a perfectly clean, modern, spacious space which was perfect for accommodation for the night as some girlfriends and I visited the area for a friends engagement party. We then woke up and cooked a perfect brekky with everything included fresh in the fridge. What a delight and great value for money!

If you are after a piece of paradise, Penny's Place at the foot of the Pyrenees cannot be looked past! Penny's small touches to an immaculate studio offers the most enjoyable getaway. From the home baked biscuits, USB's full of movies, and ample pantry supplies, she really has all of your needs covered. The studio's decor has been thought through for both aesthetics and practicalitiy. Penny's hospitality was outstanding and we would love to return again soon.
