Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
West Cottage is a typical Scottish country cottage among mountains in beautiful Glenlyon. It's semi-detached from our own house with its own entrance. Beautiful, interesting interior with thousands of books. Central heating and wood burning stove. Original range in kitchen, two double bedrooms with a double bed each, both with an extra single bed. There's a fully-equipped kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, fridge. Overlooking a bird feeding area with frequent visits from red squirrels.

The space
The cottage has a double and a single bed in each room, so it's set up for four plus children if you're a family. Apart from the modern comforts, the cottage feels like going back in time - with glowing deep coloured walls, many books, art, and curios. It's a traditional coachman's cottage which we have lived in ourselves before moving next door to the converted stables. The bedrooms are large and each has a big bookshelf with everything from classics to children's books. You can cosy up in the lounge with the wood burning stove roaring or pull out the DVD player in the evenings. The garden is on your doorstep and you can watch red squirrels and many, many birds on the feeders directly outside the kitchen window. You'll also see rabbits and our hedgehog families in the summer! We'll let you enjoy the space but we're next door if you need us.

Guest access
You can use our whole 3- acre property – garden, woods, fire pits. You can walk straight off the property and access four Munros, or walk along the Glen as long as you like (it's 40 miles long!)

Other things to note
There is a very limited mobile service in the Glen: currently only EE has a signal. There is no internet in the cottage. There is also no TV or radio. You're welcome to use our landline and internet if you need to check emails and so forth. Great for a digital detox!

You'll need to shop before you arrive, ideally, because our nearest shop is in Aberfeldy, which is 16 miles away. However, if you forget something (or even everything), we'll be happy to help you out from our own larder.

We currently have one MTB bike you can borrow.

Neighbourhood highlights

We are pretty much in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by mountains. A stream runs down the side of the property and if it's hot you can have a dip. Have a look at PH15 2PL on G. Earth and you'll see what we mean. From the Cottage you are facing the garden, with the woods on one side, a view up the Glen to the east on the other. Come in Spring and enjoy the bluebells and baby birds. Or summer, for swimming in the Invervar Burn and the drone of bees. Or Autumn, for wild mushrooms and the colours of the trees all down the Glen. Or winter, for snowy walks and cosy fires and perhaps a wee dram...

We've lived in different places all over the UK, but we're happy to have landed in the Glen. We love the landscape, birds and animals, and the lifestyle, and we're delighted to be able to share it with other people.
