I have a beautiful Edwardian house located in vibrant Fitzroy at the top of Napier Street a short 1 minute walk to iconic Gertrude Street. Located between Brunswick and Smith Street, everything you need to enjoy a fabulous stay in Melbourne is right on your doorstep, great cafés, galleries, bars, live music, boutiques, restaurants, book shops as well as outstanding shopping options.
Fitzroy has an amazing buzz and there is always something happening so it’s difficult to leave but if you do want to venture further afield virtually everything is a tram ride, cycle or walk away. The Melbourne Museum and IMAX theatre is a short stroll down the road and the CBD is a 10 walk away through the beautiful Fitzroy Gardens. Victoria markets, Carlton, St Kilda, South Melbourne and pretty much everything else you may want to check out is a short tram ride away.
The living area is a beautiful extension at the back of the house with a pitched ceiling and uninterrupted view of the small rear decked garden with a seating area which is perfect to relax in on those fabulous balmy Melbourne nights or to get a little fresh air and listen to the birds in the morning over your cup of coffee and muesli.
There are two bedrooms available in the house, the master bedroom is fully furnished with a king sized bed, lovely open fireplace and original sash windows. The second bedroom is fully furnished with a queen sized bed, round glass table and original sash windows.
Both rooms are really comfortable and cosy. The street is very quiet and with the curtains drawn it’s impossible to know that it’s daylight outside so sleeping in is very easy, after a night out enjoying all Melbourne has to offer! All sheets, blankets and bedding are provided as well as towels.
The bathroom has a bath with a shower over and the water is lovely and hot. The bathroom is well equipped with body wash, shampoo and conditioner as well as a hair dryer and straightener to make traveling that little bit easier.
The lounge area offers comfortable relaxed seating with a TV, DVD player, Apple TV, Spotify, or plug in your own music device and a range of DVDs for guest to enjoy as well as a dining room table (6 seats) which is overlooked by the kitchen. The kitchen layout is perfect for cooking with a large six burner gas stove and oven with plenty of space.
Basic supplies are provided for tea, coffee, cereal and spices or you can walk up the road and enjoy eating out at one of the fantastic cafes around the corner, Archies All Day, De Clieu, Arcadia, Marion, Belles Chicken.... the list goes on, you really are spoilt for choice here!!
The house is serene, relaxed, clean as well as cool in the summer and cosy in the winter, the perfect spot to enjoy Melbourne in a home away from home.
You will have high speed wifi at your disposal. A visitor parking permit can be arranged if you have a car, just let me know and I'll arrange it for when you arrive. The parking is on the street and restrictions apply so you either need a visitor pass to park in a residents area or you need to be mindful of the restrictions during the day where parking is limited to a set number of hours. I'm happy to give you more info if you need it.
I have plenty of guide books explaining where to go for the best food, coffee and drinks and I’m also happy to answer any questions you have about things to see and do and a range of information pamphlets will be available for you to use during your stay.
There is a late night Foodworks grocery store just around the corner on Gertrude Street as well as an Organic Supermarket as well as a large Woolworths and Coles nearby but there are so many little gourmet spots that offer fantastic organic and specialty produce you will be stocking up everywhere you go.
This is truly a fantastic area to be based in.
The #86-tram stop is just a few meters away but you could easily walk into the city in about 15 minutes. There is fantastic public transport (trams every 10 minutes) and Melbourne Olympic Park is a 10 minute walk away so the MCG, Rod Laver and AAMI park are virtually on your doorstep which is perfect for the sports or entertainment fan. Fitzroy has a great outdoor heated swimming pool and tennis courts, gyms and all sorts of other sporting facilities nearby.
It’s really easy to get here, you can catch the sky bus from the airport to Southern Cross station then from there you can catch Tram 86 along Gertrude St or alternatively you can catch a taxi from the airport and be here in about half an hour depending on the traffic.
I always try to accommodate reasonable special requests so if there is anything else you need to make your stay even better please let me know and I will do what I can to accommodate you.
The house is in a great position to base yourself while you explore all Melbourne has to offer and I’m certain that you will absolutely love the location and the vibrant Fitzroy community. I really look forward to making your stay amazing and hope to hear from you soon!
The house has two permanent occupants that will be present during your stay. My two cats Pickle and Olive remain at the house even when it's booked exclusively. They are allowed to come and go as they please and spend most of the day sleeping and the night outside catching moths so I ask that you are considerate of them as the house is their home too. They are very friendly so if you are a cat lover they will be certain to give you a cuddle if you want one.
While you are staying there are two options regarding feeding the cats, if you are happy give them some food I will leave instructions or alternatively someone will come and feed them each day.
No smoking in the house, there is a verandah at the front and garden at the back and you can smoke there although I do ask that you don't throw your cigarette butts in the garden but dispose of them thoughtfully in the bin.
No parties, having a couple of friends over for dinner or drinks is fine.
