Escape to a tranquil haven with our charming seaside cottage on Capitol Island. Nestled along Maine's pristine coastline, this idyllic retreat offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. Step into a world of serenity as you wake up to the soothing sound of waves and the gentle caress of ocean breezes.

Our cozy cottage is designed for your utmost comfort, featuring 4 bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a quaint living area with panoramic views, and a porch directly on the ocean.

The space
Capitol Island has 2 beaches, a marina, a small clubhouse, and a tennis court (which can be quickly converted into 2 pickleball courts). You can use and launch our kayaks right off the side of the cottage, and paddle around the bay, or over to Burnt Island to see the lighthouse. Or go for a stroll through the woods, known as the "fairy path," because children (and even adults) build "fairy houses" on the path from moss, sticks, stones and other natural materials. You can fish off the docks -- we often catch squid, mackerel and other fish.

Guest access
This is a small island with about 25 houses -- all quite close together. Our cottage is adjacent to a large cottage formerly known as the Albonegon Inn, where Charlie Chaplin stayed twice. It is now a family home. The island is very peaceful and at the same time a wonderful place for children.

Other things to note
Please note that biking is not allowed on the island, but you can bring bikes and walk them off the island. Also, we do allow well-behaved small dogs but they must be hypo-allergenic (ie. no shedding).

Neighbourhood highlights

Our cottage is located on beautiful Capitol Island, a private island off of Southport Island, and 10 minutes from Boothbay Harbor. The island is accessible by car. There are many wonderful restaurants in Boothbay Harbor, lots of shops, large grocery store, a YMCA, and beautiful hiking trails. There are also 2 great restaurants right on Southport Island, and a great deli shop and convenience store. If you love oysters, you can head over to the Glidden Point oyster farm and and shuck your own oysters while you have some cocktails. Or get them served up for you at Robinson's Wharf restaurant right on Southport Island. We often pick up cooked lobsters from Robinson's and eat them on the cottage deck-- best view in the area.
