Modern cottage with lawns rolling down to the Dawson River in the Manning Valley near Taree. Relax with a glass of champagne in the spa bath, fall in the river or pool, sit by the fire, row a boat, paddle a kayak, ride a mountain bike and more.

The space

Your large modern cottage on the bank of the Dawson River (part of the magnificent and unique Manning River system – one of the few double delta river systems in the southern hemisphere) is a secluded hideaway but within 7 min drive of the modern shopping facilities of Taree. The cottage is part of a 2000 acre property, all of which is available for exploration by foot, boat (provided) or mountain bike (provided). If you have children we can provide one or two rollaway beds at additional cost.

Guest access

The cottage with its magnificent views of the river from bedroom, bathroom and lounge room is yours. In warmer weather you can swim in the river or in the pool and heated spa. In cooler weather you can sip champagne in front of the fireplace (wood and starting material provided) or in the double size spa bath. You are free to explore the property.

Mountain Biking – Two mountain bikes are available for you to explore the property.

This was our first Airbnb stay and we could not have had a better experience. The fireplace and the many other facilities such as the mountain bikes and boats made the stay feel cozy and welcoming. Maurie was easy to contact and friendly to speak to, he was also more than happy to help when we had any questions. We would highly recommend this accommodation to any traveller, and we can promise that you will enjoy all the wonderful facilities on offer. Thanks again, Maurie. We would love to return sometime in the future. Ruby & Olly

I had a wonderful stay at Maurie's cottage. The grounds are beautiful, secluded and relaxing. The cottage was very well equiped and clean, I didn't want to leave. Under 10 minutes drive from Taree. Perfect for a weekend or extended getaway.

We had an excellent stay and really enjoyed all of the actvities provided. It was quiet and clean and much bigger than we had thought from the photos! The retreat is quiet and tranquil, we loved the amount of effort that had been put into the grounds and gardens to make the cabin private. This place is ideal for couples looking for a long weekend away and we would definitely stay again.

Where do you start? For one thing, "what you see on the Airbnb Website is what you actually get, and much more after you arrive and see for yourself. De & Maurie are very modest in their description of their Retreat, it is a beautiful and very comfortable place to stay.

It is exactly as described. If you love to stay close to mother nature but in style - this is for you. The hosts are wonderful: if you want any help - they are there, if you are looking for your privacy - nobody will disturb you. Cottage we stayed in was very clean and modern. For your convenience and entertainment are: mountain bikes, tennis court, fishing rods and tackle, paddle boards, swimming pool, indoor and outdoor spas, indoor fireplace, WI-Fi, TVs, fully equipped kitchen, etc. Shopping is a few minutes away by car. We enjoyed our stay there.

A lovely place to stay for a few days, as we did in our case. Stock up the fridge, get out your handiwork, test the mountain bikes, walk in the bush, take a dip in the pool, enjoy the river. Too much for one night! Yes, you are on the right road and yes, it feels as though you drive for ever the first time, but after that all is well and familiar. It did feel a bit isolated as I drove and drove on my own, but all these details are covered in Maurie's excellent introduction to Nundoobah Retreat.
