Between sea and mountain, in Lunigiana, ancient land of castles and forests, you will experience moments of calm and relaxation, hosted in an old stone house restored with ecological methods and respecting tradition

The space

Overlooking a green and silent valley, at the bottom of which a clear creek flows, the small stone house is next to the ruins of the ancient castle of Bigliolo and preserves on the north side ruins of a tower.
The house (restored with respect to its characteristics and using ecological materials) has thick walls and is cool inside, even in summer.
Organized on three levels, there are two bright bedrooms, at the upper level. The living room has a sofa with two additional beds. The kitchen is comfortable and well equipped, with a dishwasher and a oven.
Outside, in the garden with aromatic plants, in peace and quiet you can sunbathe, read, eat, drink a glass of local wine and prepare the barbecue.
The forniture is simple and welcoming. Stefania, interior designer, pays attention to details.
For the winter or for cold evenings, there are a stove with visible fire in the living room and electric radiators in the rooms.

Guest access

You can use the whole house, including the cellar in the basement. Outside, in addition to the wood paved terrace and to the garden, you can freely walk along the paths around the house and at the bottom of the valley you can take a bath in the clear creek.

Interaction with guests

Stefania et Giancarlo will welcome you at the arrival with the keys and show you the house. At your departure you can return them the keys. As they know well the area, they can suggest itineraries and places to visit, explain means of transport, restaurants, shops for purchases, introduce you to a network of small local producers. They will remain available for any need and information for the whole time of your stay.

Other things to note

Tranquility is the main feature of this little home. The house is secluded but close to three other houses inhabited during the summer. The nearest shops can be reached by car with in about 10 minutes; you can walk to a little cafe in Prato Medici, open in the afternoon and evening.

Stefania was a wonderful host who made us feel very welcome in her beautiful house overlooking the valley. As we arrived from Fivizzano by bicycle (do-able, only last 100m are very steep, and all the places we wanted to visit were accessible by combination of bike and train), Stefania kindly took us to the supermarket to buy food for the week. We cooked in the well-equipped kitchen, using herbs, tomatoes, figs and nuts from the garden. The view from the patio is beautiful with sunsets over the opposite side of the little valley, which we pretty much had to ourselves. The house is the kind of house we would like to have when we grow up, with stone walls, wooden floors, a kitchen with view of the valley, a castle at the back (a lot bigger than we thought!) and blue shutters. We especially liked listening to the local donkey ee-awing, smelling the dry Tuscan landscape smells, visiting Licciana Nardi (swimming in river), the Alpi Apuane and eating our way through the local products of Lunigiana. We were sad to leave. Thank you Stefania!

Stefania's house was a place to come home to, decorated with a nice personal touch. We really enjoyed the garden, quiet and peaceful, where ripe tomatoes and figs could be picked from the trees. Stefania was a very good host and always available during our stay.

If you fancy a very quiet and nice place to spend some holidays in a beautiful area, don't hesitate. The kids loved the little river down the house to ho for a bath. The garden is very nice and cosy. Stefania and her husband are lovely people.

Wonderful house ! Very beautiful and so quiet and relaxing. A perfect house for relaxing.

Stefania gave us a warm welcome at our arrival at her beautiful house. It was even better than we expected. The reality was far better than the photos we saw before on the airbnb page! The house itself is beautifully decorated, very clean and contains everything you need. She had even recently installed wifi, which made my kids very happy. The beds are comfortable and all windows in the house have a great view on the valley and the meadows around the house. The road from the village to the house is narrow and steep. make sure your brakes are in order before you go there! There is a lot of space around the house for relaxing. We stayed there with three people (1 adult and two teenage kids), but there is room for 1 or 2 more). You definitely need a car to get there, for shopping and see places. We chose this location for the peace and quiet and because it is not far from Cinque Terre. As Stefania recommended us, we went to Aulla by car (10 minutes) and took the train there to La Spezia and CT. That was a relaxing way of travelling. We all had a great time at Stefania's house and keep beautiful memories of our stay.

My mother and I and my three children (4 years Twins and 8 months) spent three wonderful weeks in Stefania's beautiful little house in Bigliolo. The surroundings of the house are magical, completely unspoilt and we found the place to be the most calming and peaceful ever possible. In spite of being small the house is equipped with everything one needs for creative cooking or lazing in the Garden. My town-bred children were thrilled and constantly discovered Country-pleasures like bathing in the near creek, picking wild strawberries, strolling in the beautiful forests around the house etc. The house is very tastefully renovated and we will never forget our amazing three-week stay there!! Our favourite beaches were in San Terenzo and Lerici. We also liked Forte dei Marmi for a day trip. The pizza in the next village is formidable! I can only truly and honestly recommend staying at Stefania's little house by the castle!
