Tango-inspired paintings & vintage furnishings will remind you of the fabulous antique stores you'll find all over San Telmo.

Four bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a huge kitchen, living room & dining room with French doors that open onto 2 balconies, this home is one entire floor of a gorgeous turn-of-the-century residence.

The space
San Telmo's elegant residences were built during Argentina's heyday in the early 1900s. Today, San Telmo is the artsy, bohemian quarter. Casa Bohemia, a four-bedroom apartment that takes up an entire floor, represents both sides of San Telmo.

We have just bought new beds, which don't show yet in the photos (read the captions). There are two queen beds in the bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. And in the bedroom you walk through to get to the other, we have bought two twin beds (100x200) which can be put together to form a king (200x200). In the last bedroom, there is still a double bed.

Please LOOK AT THE PHOTOS and CAPTIONS closely, you must go through one bedroom to get to the master suite.

There are three and a half bathrooms. The first has a full bath (toilet, sink, bidet, tub with shower) and attached it has a half bath (toilet and sink) for guests. The en-suite bathroom has a sink, toilet, bidet, tub, and separate shower. And the third bathroom is a European style efficiency wet room.

Our building is over 100 years old. It's stunning, but all old buildings have some challenges. Windows and doors do not seal as well as in newer places, so there's always some dust. Even just after dusting, there is some dust. If you do not like vintage spaces that have charm and quirks, please consider looking for a place in either Puerto Madero or Palermo as I do not think San Telmo will be the right fit for you.

If you do like the charm of antiques and days gone by, our location is perfect. We're on Peru Street, between Independencia and Estados Unidos. From the balconies, you can see the famous Mercado de San Telmo and the top of the San Pedro Telmo church near Plaza Dorrego.

The street fair on Sundays is two blocks away on Defensa. One block up is Chacabuco Street. We love the changes happening here. There's an awesome tapas and vermouth bar, a small theater for live music, a couple of fancy restaurants, a beautiful carniceria. And on our block is the city's most popular British pub and an amazing English-language bookstore where they even teach literature classes. It's the center of culture. We love it.

We'd be delighted to have you stay with us in Casa Bohemia!

Guest access
Guests have access to everything.

Other things to note
Our elevator is currently not working so this apartment is on the fourth floor, and we cannot confirm that the elevator will be operational.

We work to accommodate our guests who need to check in before 2pm, but we cannot always do so, especially if other guests are checking out on the same day. To be sure you can check in before 2pm, you can pay an extra half day and we will book the night before your arrival to guarantee it will be ready for you early. The same goes of late check-outs. If you want to check out later than 11am, write to us and we can add a half day to the total and block that last night of yours so no other guests will book it and you can check out late.

If you are arriving outside of normal work hours (i.e. before 9am or after 9pm) please write to me first to make sure someone can meet you then. There will be an additional charge to pay the person meeting you. Thanks!

We love San Telmo's bohemian vibe and authenticity. Though gentrification is definitely happening, it's not pretentious... yet.

You'll want to explore San Telmo's casas de tango, small traditional restaurants known as bodegones, old-fashioned bars called bares notables, antique and vintage shops, and the trendy new restaurants, cafes, and fancy boutiques. Day or night, San Telmo is full of activity.

In particular, we love that it's small. No matter where you are in San Telmo, you'll find a cool place to eat, great bars and cafes, some lovely boutiques (though fewer than in Palermo or Recoleta) and you will mostly hear Spanish.

I've begun splitting my time between New Orleans and Buenos Aires, so if I'm not there in BA when you stay with us, my friends Grisel and Andrew will be there to take care of you. I taught writing in universities around the world for most of my life (Italy, Panama, France, Miami, Egypt). Now I run my own vacation rental business. My husband John is a filmmaker. He makes family films. The actors are often our three cats: Felipe, Cortado and Bonzie. John and I both love cooking, music, and, of course, travel. In 2015 we took a five-week trip in South America, so if you have any questions about traveling you think I can help with, let me know. I'm happy to help. We've been renting out our spaces since 2008; we've made friends all over the world and learned so much. A bunch of them even came to our wedding in April 2015. Talk about an inspiring group of guests.
