Wildlife

King Island is a bird watchers paradise, nearby to Yambacoona House, Bob’s lagoon is full of water birds from swans, ducks, cootes and teeming with other bird life. At Yambacoona House, you will regularly see Sea Eagles, Hawkes and smaller birds of prey, with galahs, jays, and honey eaters and fairy wrens’ regular guests. Yambacoona House has its own family of turkeys, peacocks, wallabies and possums who make their presence known along with the occasional echidna.

The Heavens

The night sky on King Island is pristine. Gaze at the heavens, and the blaze of the milky way free of light pollution. Enjoy the unfettered sunrise and sunsets and the sounds of the ocean, or the first song of the sky larks as they soar into the sky as you lie in bed in an un-spoilt environment.
