About this listing
Our names are Peter & Kaye and we enjoy the history of Eldorado and the Woolshed valley, I like metal detecting looking for artefacts and old coins from the six ghost towns and the eighty hotel sites in the Woolshed Valley and Eldorado.
Kaye keeps herself busy with her craft and catering for groups with her famous scones and Devonshire tea and her garden which she loves to share with others.
Whilst staying in our Cottage in Eldorado please ask to view the artefacts and old coins found from Ned Kelly sites and Joe Byrne’s hut site, whilst enjoying a Devonshire Tea at “Kaye’s Place”.
Eldorado Cottage is in THE VALLEY OF DISCOVERY.
Nestled in the foothills of the Ovens Plains, the historic Village of Eldorado is an ideal location to escape the frustrations of city life. Situated only 22km from Wangaratta, Eldorado is a short trip from the many attractions of Victoria's fabulous North East and makes an ideal stopover whilst touring the area.
The Village boasts many thriving local businesses. Accommodation and a Tavern to further cater for your relaxation.
The Reedy Creek that flows through the Woolshed Valley to Eldorado, was the source of mining that built the Eldorado Village supporting a century of shaft, sluice and dredge mining. Many historic relics are still preserved, including the immense gold dredge which was, during it's time of operation, the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Woolshed Valley itself contains some of the most picturesque country in Victoria, and anglers can enjoy seeking the wild trout which inhabit the upper reaches of the Reedy Creek, or gold panning and looking for gem stones.
Today, Eldorado remains an extremely interesting, beatiful and tranquil spot, a must to visit.
From the soaring peaks of Victoria's highest mountains, to the fertile valleys and pristine rivers and lakes below. And best of all, once your here in Eldorado everything is just a relaxed drive, stroll or cycle away.

We are a couple of the original tree changers, no traffic lights, stop signs and round-about's for us. We came to Eldorado for our holidays every year for over 30 years. Once we retired we moved right in to the place we call home. Now we can share this experience with others by offering our cottage on the property to visitors.
We have seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. We love looking for gemstones up the creek. We have immersed ourselves in the history and still love to explore and share the stories.
Even in our retirement we still find ourselves hard at work with our hobbies which include, metal detecting, craft, cake icing and folk art painting. There is always plenty to do on our 3 acres.
