The magic of the Mojave on 4 acres of Joshua trees, mountain views, and sunsets, close enough to town to take in a show at Pappy and Harriet's but far enough away to feel like you've escaped. Perfect for a twosome.

The space
This cabin was first built by a father and son, and you can feel the love and comfort the minute you walk through the door. The warmth of the fireplace and the wide open windows that make you feel like the walls disappear and you are truly immersed in the magic of the desert landscape, perfect place to have a soak in the outdoor jacuzzi tub (NOT a hot tub). There is a queen sized bed and a large couch in the living room.

Guest access
You have a large one bedroom and living room as well as 4 acres that might as well be a few hundred s as the house faces open acreage of untouched Joshua Trees. There are two bathrooms, a wet bar, a gazebo outside to enjoy a fresh grilled meal and star gaze or watch the shooting stars and the moon glow by the outdoor fire pit as glowing embers flutter around you.

Other things to note
The landscape is beautiful but also fragile and serene so we ask that you respect that and be conscious of noise levels, fires, and your impact on the trees and wildlife. This is desert cabin living so there is something special about it that we want to maintain. Water is obviously a growing concern in California, there is plenty of water to take a nice hot shower or wash up a fresh cocktail glass but please be environmentally conscious that each drop of water is precious out here in the desert.

The Mojave Desert and Joshua Tree is a locale unlike any place else in the world. It's hard to put your finger on it sometimes and describe so you'll have to experience it for yourself - but there is a dramatic, whimsical, and almost comedic personality to the place. Whether it's the feeling like you're in the mountains and the desert at the same time, or the frolicking rabbits, the almost humorous and cartoonish shape of the trees and cacti, there is the feeling like you are in the Old West with a smattering of modern comforts. There is so much to offer out here whether it's rock climbing, hiking, motorbiking, meditation, prospecting, building, cooking, or just getting lost in a gaze at the vastness of the plains. Tortuga Ranch is uniquely located just out of reach from the hustle and bustle of town but not too far away that you can't pop into Pappy and Harriet's or Natural Sisters for something to eat. The cabin is a stone's throw to the National Park but rests atop a hill on the other side of a dried up river bed - so as you near Tortuga Ranch you truly feel like you're leaving the city behind... even though it's a hop and a skip back the other way.
