“My husband and I were looking for something a little different and off the beaten path, well we found it! Ruxlan and Eva were the most wonderful hosts, they made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable and at home. Their home is located on the Main Street of Puerto Esparanza. We spent a lot of time in the rocking chairs on the front porch just watching the day unfold in this sleepy little town. Plenty of horse and buggy, oxen and cart and the friendliest people in the world. We rode bicycles around town and out past some farms, that was very interesting. My husband celebrated his birthday here, Eva and Ruxlan went out of their way to make sure it was special. From a wonderful lobster dinner, a beautiful birthday cake and a bottle of ‘Cuban champagne’. If you are looking to just chill and relax, this is a great place to do it! We will definitely be back for a visit with Ruxlan and Eva. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

“This was hands down our favourite destination and Airbnb experience while travelling Cuba. If you are seeking an authentic experience and adventure, ditch the tour groups and come to Puerto Esperanza for a few nights. Yoelis is an amazing person who cares about her home and your experience staying in it. Her home was very clean, has really nice wooden furniture, a great patio to sit and take in the sounds of the town in the evening or read a book and relax. The town is very lively and it is enjoyable watching everyone interact with each other as there is a true sense of community here. Yoelis speaks english very well and it was so nice to spend time talking with her and getting to know more about her and her family as well as the town of Puerto Esperanza. Yoelis and her father are amazing cooks - the food was authentic cuban cuisine and was the best food that we ate while travelling through Cuba. We really mean that. It is worth coming here for the food alone. Yoelis has a contact for a tour guide who lives in Puerto Esperanza and who can take you on horseback through tobacco farms, mountains and to a special snorkeling area in the ocean. These trips are special because the guide knows all of the people along the way, and the farms are the real deal. It feels like a private trip, there are no other tourists and it truly is an amazing experience, much better than what you get in the Vinales excursions. If I could do it again I would skip the Vinales horseback tours all together and just come here. If you are looking for a truly authentic experience, come and stay here and you will not be disappointed. We are grateful to have chosen to stay here and to have met Yoelis and her family.”

“Wonderful place to take a break from the intensity of Cuba and experience real Cuban family life. I arrived at Sivi’s house exhausted, sick, and all alone. It proved a great place to land and recover. Sivi and her family made me fresh herbal teas and fed me 3 delicious meals a day accommodating all my dietary needs. With their care and the peace of their home I healed much faster than usual. Gracias, Sivi and Silvia! There’s not a lot to do in this small town but Sivi goes out of her way to customize a satisfying experience for you. She connected me with artists and musicians in town to give me meaningful experiences I’ll always remember. And we created our own fun in her lovely outdoor dining room. My experience with Siviadys and her family is a unique experience I will always treasure.”
