Beachfront holiday rental in Playa Avellana

Our extended family of 14 stayed for 10 days and had a great time. A three minute walk to the beach was the highlight for the kids. The beach was never crowded, had sand expanses to spread out on and able to wade into the surf quite aways. When we were back at the bungalow, the pool was almost always in use. The place is private, but Karla, Alberto and Luis were available whenever we had questions.Karla is an amazing chef and we had many of her meals. Meals were well balanced with delicious fresh juicy fruit. She offered to make American food, but the Costa Rican recipes were too good to pass up. Even the picky eaters had plenty to eat. They were helpful in lining up outings for us and transporting us to a health clinic when our youngest arrived feeling sick. They made us feel like family and welcome. We picked Johnny's Beach Bungalow because we wanted to have a Costa Rican experience that put us in touch with Costa Rican people and culture. We were not disappointed

5 Stars – Unforgettable Beachside Retreat! We had an absolutely fantastic stay at this beautiful home in Palm Beach Estates! Dirk was an exceptional host—always quick to respond and incredibly helpful throughout our visit. The house is just steps from the beach, making it easy to enjoy the ocean anytime. We especially loved the outdoor grill area—it was perfect for cooking up the fresh red snapper we got from the local fish truck. So delicious! The pool was a major highlight for our family. The colorful lights at night made it feel magical, and we spent many evenings playing Marco Polo with our girls—such great memories. The property was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything we needed. The neighborhood felt safe and peaceful, with great access to local spots and the beach just around the corner. We can’t wait to come back and highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a memorable beach getaway!

Beautiful cabin with an excellent location overlooking Playa Callejones! There is a nice lookout area and just a short walk down to the beach. The cabin was perfect for our group and is a great spot for a relaxing break. Beatrice was great and communicated all information clearly and responded quickly to help us sort out a small issue. Would definitely visit again!

Lauren's place is a true slice of paradise! It's perfectly sized for a couple in a nice secluded area tucked behind one of the most desolate, beautiful beaches we'd ever seen with our own private walkway to get there. The yard is huge and gorgeous! You can hear the ocean waves from the yard making it a super peaceful retreat. The kitchen was very well stocked for us to cook meals and even make fresh batidos every day! Junquillal is a beautiful beach and is a 45 minute drive (or less) to Tamarindo, but a significantly quieter area if that's what you're looking for. We'd highly recommend the place and would love to stay again!!

Centrally located and easy to get to the store, beach club and restaurants. It was clean and comfortable. Easy to work with Casey!

El lugar es lindísimo, cerca de muchas playas, tenía todo lo que necesitábamos. La señal del WiFi no es muy buena, si buscan trabajar desde ahí no es lo ideal, pero para nosotros que íbamos de vacaciones no era tan necesario.

Great remote location for epic surf. Airbnb is modern, well stocked, and you can’t beat being steps from Marbella.

PARADISE! This will by far be one of the most beautiful villas we have ever stayed in. Not only did it match the pictures perfectly but it exceeded our expectations in every way possible. The tide pools were the best we have ever seen- so many colorful fish and we even saw a little octopus! The kids loved swimming in the pool and in the ocean and we felt like kids again. Kim was a great host and greeted us upon arrival to show us the layout of everything and the security guard was so friendly and I felt really safe with my 11 year old and two children under 2 being there. FIVE star location. Close enough to Tamarindo to experience everything it has to offer, but far enough away to stay away from the crowds. We loved every minute of it and wish we could’ve stayed longer.

This was an absolutely villa located in the very friendly and walkable Las Catalinas resort community. The resort staff greeted us with young coconuts to sip, escorted us to our villa (and sent our luggage by cart), and gave us a thorough overview of the offerings in the area. The concierge desk was easily reachable through apps and gave flawless service arranging tours, restaurant reservations, whatever we needed! The resort offers plenty of restaurant and recreation options, and unexpected amenities like being able to borrow the electric vehicle for two hours at bo charge. The private beach had soft black sand and the entire property was extremely well-groomed. The villa was immaculate, beautifully designed and maintained. My only complaint was we could not figure out how to turn off the somewhat loud courtyard fountain, but it became white noise as we grew accustomed to it. I would highly recommend this unit and Las Catalinas as a restaurant destination!

To say we had a fabulous stay would be an understatement. The location was perfect (not too busy, but not too far from restaurants/shopping etc) and Shawna was super helpful in all aspects of our stay including great local restaurant and excursion recommendations (local horseback riding ranch was phenomenal as were our surf instructors!). Tatiana was amazing and her cooking was delicious (highly recommend utilizing her cooking-I am still dreaming about her Arepas). We always felt safe and comfortable at the house and it was perfect for our group's two young families (kids ages 9, 8, 5, 4 and 3). The house also had easy to carry beach chairs, sand toys, boogie boards and games. The living area/kitchen was a great hangout space and the outside spaces were also wonderful. So sad to have to leave but will hopefully be back in the future! Thanks for a great stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Mono Feliz! The villa had everything we needed to have a relaxing, peaceful stay in Costa Rica. The beach, beach club, shops, restaurants, and town were all in walking distance. After enjoying the day with all the area had to offer, it was especially nice to come back to the villa to dip in the pool. Hosts, Jeff and Gina, were attentive to our needs along with onsite management, Justin. Pura Vida!

This was a beautiful vacation property with all the needed amenities. The location was ideal as it was within easy walking distance of a number of restaurants and shops.

We stayed here with another family—10 of us total with kids ranging from 7 to 13—and absolutely loved it! The house was amazing. Everyone had plenty of space to spread out, but the real magic happened in the outdoor area where we all came together to eat, swim, and hang out. The kids would've spent all day in the pool and at the beach. We even got to watch March Madness, which was a huge bonus! The hosts were super communicative and helpful throughout our stay, and Jenny the housekeeper was wonderful—so sweet and welcoming. Her gallo pinto for breakfast was delicious and worth organizing. The only downside was the road leading off the highway into Hacienda Pinilla—definitely the roughest stretch we encountered during our trip across the country. It’s still accessible by 4x4 and even a car, just something to be aware of. Overall, we had an incredible stay and would absolutely come back. Highly recommend for families or groups traveling together!

The house is beautiful & very modern! We had an amazing stay and definitely recommend! Hope to come back again soon! We also felt very safe inside of a gated community!

We were looking forward a remote location to settle for some months. This was a great sanctuary to be alone and explore the empty beach. The WiFi was very good , even when other local services were unavailable. The neighbour made us delicious food when requested. A great adventure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We have a home in the mountain rainforest area and like to get away to the beach periodically to enjoy a dryer climate and a full day of sun. As a result we have gone to a number of beaches along the Pacific coast for a long weekend. A location right on the beach and at an affordable price is very rare. We were delighted to be able to walk outside and be set up in a perfect and private location within minutes. The beaches are long and extremely walkable. There are few people on the beach and no vendors--also rare at this time of year. Our apartment was super clean and comfortable and we had everything we needed to prepare our meals and take them outside and enjoy the views! The fans and the AC kept our room very comfortable and the bath towels were plush and very much appreciated after a day on the beach. We had a fabulous time and appreciated the hospitality provided! Thank you and we will definitely be back!

This place was absolutely perfect for our surfing trip!! Private beach access, beautiful yard looking out to the ocean and spacious home. The hostess was responsive and communicative and very friendly and helpful if we had any questions. I hate to write this review as I don’t want anyone else to know about the place as I would like to keep it to ourselves next year. ☺️. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here. Absolutely a wonderful place and wonderful hosts!!

Great place to spend a relaxing vacation. Douglas was very responsive and the property was in a beautiful location. If you arent familiar with Costa Rica, be prepared the roads and long travel times. The location is in a beautiful location, but doesnt have alot of locations near the property. We were looking for that so it was perfect. Douglas' instructions and recommendations were very helpful and we really enjoyed the pool on property. We also had private chefs and massages on site which were great.

I can’t say enough amazing things about Nathalie’s beautiful home! It was a pure oasis! The home is even nicer than the pictures can describe! It was beautifully decorated, ample space for our group of 8 (4 adults, 4 kids), had daily cleaning, and amazing communication from Nathalie. We will miss the beautiful pool, outdoor showers, large common space, and the great location. We hope to have the chance to stay here again!! Thanks again Nathalie!

Absolutely loved our stay. Renee arrived just as we were working on getting in to the unit and helped us settle in. She also gave us a local contact who was a HUGE help in arranging tours and rental car. Loved the truly “local” restaurant Estero Azul that she recommended. She was also helpful in explaining water issues the municipality had briefly during our stay. The location is private and quiet, but many restaurants, activities and a grocery store in easy walking distance made it easy to enjoy without a rental car. Comfortable space for 4 people, and the semi private beach right behind the unit was a huge bonus. Highly recommend the host and the location!

The house & location are amazing, you literally feel like you have your own beach in the middle of paradise, but also all of the conveniences you need like a variety restaurants, grocery store, convenience stores and even a hardware store are only less than a 5 minute drive away. The baby turtle sanctuary is only a 5 minute drive away and we got to see one of my bucket lists, we got to release baby turtles and watch them waddle their way to the ocean! The whole house had a water filter and reverse osmosis water so we were able to have safe and wonderful drinking water the entire trip and saved loads of money just refilling our water w/ regular cheap water bottles that we bought day one some of us brought our Yeti/Stanley cups. The pool is a perfect dip pool for when you get hot, and at low tide, which is everyday. The smooth sandy beach is a dream! We looked at tons of other beachfront properties but this was the only one that actually had a sandy swimmable beach! House is perfect!
