Had a lovely stay , exactly what you would expect from a homestead built in 1896 with modern benefit of electricity, running water and bathroom. Great to have wood supplied for the fire . Great country stay away from it all , totally relaxing unplugged from the matrix !!

Your guide to Pemberton

All About Pemberton

The small town of Pemberton offers some of the most intriguing and diverse landscapes in Western Australia. A popular stop for long-distance hikers on the Bibbulmun Track, the area offers plenty of outdoor attractions. With multiple national parks and miles of dunes and concealed beaches within a short drive from the town centre, visitors will have ample opportunity to enjoy the area’s natural beauty, like its famous karri trees with their pink, orange, yellow, and mahogany bark.

Pemberton has grown into a bit of a haven for artists with a vibrant main street, several art galleries, working studios, art walks, and public art classes. While downtown, hop on the iconic Pemberton tourist railway for a scenic overview of the area’s immaculate landscapes before wandering off to enjoy them on foot.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Pemberton

Accommodation in Pemberton includes lovely cottages and cabins that feel like a true retreat, with the sights and sounds of nature just outside your window. Visitors should bring plenty of layers for a trip to Pemberton as generally warm days give way to cooler temperatures as the sun goes down. Summers are sunny and balmy enough for water activities like kayaking or canoeing at Big Brook Dam. Spring is cool and comfortable during the day, and wildflowers burst into colour this time of year.

Pemberton has long, rainy winters, so it's best to be prepared with everything from rain boots to warm weather-resistant jackets, but it’s an ideal season for popping in and out of the local galleries and cafes. Temperatures are mild and agreeable in autumn, making this a great time to hike, take a self-drive tour through the Karri Forest, or head to Pemberton’s Mountain Bike Park to take in the changing leaves.

Top things to do in Pemberton

Gloucester National Park

Colourful karri trees and the flowing Lefroy Brook are nestled inside the verdant Gloucester National Park. The flora and fauna in Gloucester thrive no matter the season. Take a day to go on a bushwalk, and you’ll encounter wildflowers, quokkas, lorikeets, cockatoos, dunnarts, and much more. If you want a dose of adrenaline, you can climb one of the three lookout trees for incredible views of the entire forest.

Understory Art & Nature Trail

Founded by the local community to encourage locals and visitors to spend more time in the forest, this 1.2 kilometre walk features sustainable artworks meant to exist in harmony with nature. Sculptures are the highlight, but there are also works featuring music, poetry, and stories strategically placed along the trail. Both guided and audio tours are available, and you can explore the attached gallery that offers rotating exhibitions, workshops, concerts, and movie nights.

Yeagarup Dunes

Just a 30-minute drive from the town centre, you’ll find the Yeagarup Dunes. These sand mountains stretch across 10 kilometres and overlook the karri forest. If you’re able to time it right, visiting these dunes to take in a view of the sunset is a truly unique experience, and you’re guaranteed to capture some beautiful and striking photos. You can book a four-wheel-drive vehicle and ride across the sandy tracks, or go “sledding” down the sides. At the bottom of the dunes, you’ll find Yeagarup beach, where the soft white sands lead into impressive stretches of water.
