New: Cantick Head Lighthouse Cottage

MeredithRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
I'm finding it difficult to put into words what being a guest at Cantick Head was like. Magical, inspiring, cozy, peaceful, safe. The cottage is beyond charming. It was tastefully decorated with little bits of history scattered about. It was absolutely spotless clean with comfortable beds and linens that smelled heavenly especially after a day of hiking the nearby trails. A nature and animal lovers paradise. Alan and his family go above and beyond to ensure you are happy. I found the experience to be quite moving and was saddened to leave. Alan is an example of what an outstanding Airbnb operator is and Cantick Head is a top notch accommodation. The price was very reasonable for the experience of being at Cantick Head. Overall, 11 out 10!

We had a lovely few days in Mike’s cottage. It had everything we needed and was just a short drive from Kirkwall. Everything was clean and fresh. Mike left some essentials in the kitchen such as milk, bread, cereals, teas, coffees and biscuits which was appreciated! Would definitely recommend.

Cosy cottage with stunning views - Island of Hoy

JamesRating, 5 stars8 months ago
Linda’s Place is a lovely former family home in a stunning position on the sea front at Longhope on the island of Hoy. It’s a family home with a very comfy, if somewhat old-fashioned vibe. Don’t expect 5 star accommodation but do expect a warm home well supplied with kitchen equipment and welcoming shortbread (very yummy) and fresh milk in the fridge. There are two boxes of toy,s /games for children of all ages plus a large DVD film collection for showing on the TV , Linda supplies bedding and towels. The bathroom has a shower over the bath. For a rural property the water supply water supply is fab but a tip is to stagger bath/shower times as the hot water sometime can run cool if excessive demand is placed on it. There is a garden with a washing line over the road from the cottage. The next door neighbour is a brilliant neighbour and all locals we met were friendly and very helpful. We two stayed in the first week of August 24 finding the village shop to have comprehensive supply.

Verracott - island bolt hole

DavidRating, 5 stars6 months ago
Our first visit to North Ronaldsay. Verracott was a great location, being in the middle of the island, so perfect for exploring. The croft is on its own down a private lane, with North Manse to the north (a field away) and Purtabrek to the south (2 fields away). The cottage was exactly as described, cosy with the fire (or 2) burning in the evenings. Plenty of hot water so the bath was well used! We ordered our provisions from the Bird Observatory and had lunch there several times. We enjoyed feeding our scraps to the chickens! If you fancy getting away from it all, this is the place to come. Loved it. Helga was very responsive and helpful, and it was really lovely to meet her, and her family.

Traditional Orkney Cottage on the island of Hoy

JaneRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We loved our brief stay in this cosy cottage. Although small, it is thoughtfully kitted out with everything that could be required. The location is stunning - beautiful views of the clear turquoise waters and the hills behind. We met nothing but kindness and friendliness from the people of Hoy, and especially from Kathleen

Burnside Holiday House Birsay

SusanRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Burnside is such a gem of a place to stay and Anne Marie a kind and helpful host. It's located where you can walk two minutes from the house to one of the most beautiful beaches on mainland. And then afterwards be cosy by the fire. The views from the cottage are also fantastic. We all slept so well and peacefully; Burnside is quiet. Lovely local shop just around the corner as well as a fantastic cafe just a 5 minute walk up the road. We had such a wonderful ten days at Burnside and hope to be back in the future. Thank you Anne Marie!

Feolquoy Harray ~ Self Catering Farm House

NicolaRating, 5 stars93 months ago
I have nothing but good things to say about our holiday at Feolquoy. (Ann-Marie, Jess, Isobel, and Duncan were all such lovely people, so helpful and friendly. ) The cottage itself was outstanding, clean and cozy warm, with all the comforts of home. The hosts ensured we had food in the cupboards, flowers (and wine!) on the table, and milk and cheese in the fridge. These gestures of kindness meant so much to us. Feloquoy is situated in a slightly elevated position so we had the most fantastic view of the hills of Hoy, and down into the Ness of Brodgar. We could even see the standing stones through our binoculars. I can't tell you how much we will miss the view from the dining room window. Orkney is a magical place, and we couldn't have asked for a lovelier basefrom which to explore some of its many wonders. Thank you!

Nether Onston self catering

LindenRating, 5 stars7 months ago
David. Rachel, and Bella went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. When we were confused over a simple aspect of the shower Rachel was over in a flash to show us how to do it. We were a bit embarrassed but she was super nice and friendly and we were able to get to know her and her adorable dog. We felt we were treated as family, and would love to return.
