This small rustic cabin is on the bank of the New River, just an 8 minute drive from downtown Orange Walk. We offer a free ride to town every morning at 7:30. We can also make arrangements if you wish to head to town for dinner and drinks. Maracas Bar and Grill on site open Thursday thru Sunday, for lunch and dinner. The cabin is one 6 on 5 acres of riverside property. If you're a birder, early morning is a good time. Spiny tail iguanas, proboscis bats, other wildlife live on the property
“When booking this place, one of our criteria was that it was a bit outside of the town, at the river with wildlife around and that it has a fridge and coffeemaker. We came on a Monday when the Bar is closed and the whole area was very quite. They have picnic tables and small benches along the river and we saw birds and iguanas, jumping fish and even a crocodile. We checked in via the hotel de la Fuenta in Orange Walk and booked with them our Lamanai tour (which was exceptional, we had a wonderful guide who found a lot of wild life and went up with us on all the ruins, and what we liked the best we were only a small group of 5 people) we can highly recommend booking with the Lamanai River Tours). It is beautiful to sit in front of your cabin - our cabin didn't had a table, but some of the other ones have). the rooms have a wonder bath room, fan and air conditioner. If you don't have a car, they pick you up in the morning. I would recommend this place if you have a car and you can go back and forth independently.”

“If you're looking at this property, and reading these reviews, YOU NEED TO COME HERE!!! The log cabin was immaculate and Bruce was an INCREDIBLE host. He picked us up from the airport and on the ride to the cabin (about 1 hr) he started telling us about things we were seeing along the way. The cabin was IMMACULATE upon arrival and it was even better than the pictures you see here (because you're actually there!!) We spent alot of time with Bruce (because we booked all of our excursions through him prior to arrival) and he made sure to give us the best experiences at all of them. He has a team of people that work with him (that were all awesome as well) and he planned out our vacation according to days when the weather was good and the sites wouldn't be as busy etc. (for example we did a few things on days where no cruise ships were around, aka TONS of people, so we avoided those crowds!!) He also gives his guests a cellphone so that you can easily contact him if need be and would answer it immediately. You can tell that Bruce loves his country and wants to teach you all about it and give you the best experience as possible while you are staying at his property. Like it says in the description, the property is located near a small village and there are no restaurants/bars/stores within walking distance (so don't come here for the nightlife.) You can however buy fresh bread, cheese, icecream etc. from the Mennonites just down the road which I HIGHLY recommend!! There is also a store that has all of the essentials (booze, toilet paper, snacks and food etc.) in Bermudian Landing which we accessed by bicycles (which are also provided by Bruce) and it took us about 20 minutes (one way.) We loved hanging out in the hammocks on the covered porch and LITERALLY spent hours out there! The Howler Monkeys did come visit us a few times at the cabin (which was truly incredible!) We fed the turtles and fish everyday which was also awesome! There is NO WI-FI or TV so you must be there to ditch the technology and enjoy your beautiful surroundings! We would listen to the jungle come alive, have some drinks and play cards (which I HIGHLY recommend bringing) every night which was a nice change of pace!! In summary, you can probably tell that we TRULY enjoyed our stay at the log cabin and Bruce was an AMAZING host, he was like our Belizean dad while we were there (even though I think we're similar in age) and we always felt safe and well taken care of!! If you're looking to enjoy nature in Belize (and all the peace and tranquility that it has to offer) then this is the place for you!! We would go back in a heartbeat!”
