We have just come back from spending nine unforgettable nights at Penzhorn Rest Cottage and it exceeded all of our expectations - even better than the photos! Zonja, our host, welcomed us warmly on arrival and was so accommodating to make sure we were happy throughout our stay. Her hospitality has honestly blown us away! The highlight of our stay was the daily sight and sound of the river with nightly hippo visitors which added such a magical touch to our stay, immersing us in the beauty and awe of the African bush. Whether enjoying a coffee while reading by the river or relaxing in the ‘bosbad’ every moment felt really special to us! Zonja’s meticulous eye for detail was evident in the small touches around the cottage which made us feel right at home. This is a haven for nature lovers seeking a luxurious yet authentic escape. If you decide to book this listing you won’t be disappointed! We left feeling rejuvenated and are already looking forward to returning!

Too many things to mention so I’ll get straight to the point: -Location is great, view of the river from patio. Looks exactly like the pictures -Yes you can see hippos from your balcony, yes its 100% safe -Wi-Fi is fast and works -There is a designated braai/BBQ space -Really peaceful, great for get-away in nature -I’ve been to so many airbnbs, this one is my favorite!

Getting to the place was easy. Upon arrival we were met by a lovely lady by the name of Veronica. She did the house tour and the place is really lovely and beautiful. Prior to my booking I asked Jordan if there is fishing seeing the pictures on their place she said yes there is. Even on arrival Veronica saw our fishing equipment and nothing was said about the rules of fishing. We took our fishing equipment to the river and caught about 5 fishes. While there the Owner by the name of Eric came to me and told me that the rules of fishing are that it’s a “catch and release policy” we were not supposed to fish out to keep for ourselves.Nothing was said prior about the policy even on their rules in the house. I contacted Jordan and she said to the fishing was only a favour to us so we should abide by the rules. Usually most establishments make rules known to their guests before they book. They said fire wood available and no fee was mentioned. We paid for the firewood. This put us off.

Awesome location, great view, very peaceful. Cozy fireplace in kitchen and lounge makes for great family atmosphere!

Great space with everything that you can wish for. Extremely friendly staff, helping where ever they can. Very close to Phalaborwa gate!

Spacious place that gives you a classic African feel. The aircon's in the heat was amazing! So close to the Kruger gate makes it so well located.

Peaceful and relaxing house and environment. Beautiful house. Well equipped. Wish we stayed longer.
