“A little paradise on earth. Located in the middle of nature, at the foot of the mountain where wallibies and co say good night to each other. It is a wonderfully quiet place. Lee is awesome. A very nice and thoughtful host. We felt immediately comfortable and warmly welcomed. Highly recommended, we will be happy to come back!”

“The Billabong is a magical place and Mac and Gaynor are indeed super hosts! Our family group consisted of two retired grandparents and a 12-year old granddaughter and all three of us agreed we loved every minute and wish we could have stayed longer than our 5 days. We watched an amazing variety of birds visit the Billibong, including sulfur-crested cockatoos, radjah shelducks, honey-eaters, finches, forest kingfishers, parrots, and lorikeets and a heron. A bird-watcher’s paradise. We were entertained by boxing kangaroos and a mama kangaroo with a joey nearby. We enjoyed checking the hen house for eggs making delicious breakfast with them, and picking veggies from the garden. Gaynor provided her delicious homemade breads and jam and a good coffee press for breakfasts and we grilled fresh fish from the village shops for dinner on the porch at night. The night sky was dazzling—no light pollution there! The location was an easy 15 minutes to adventures in Agnes Water and the historic town of 1770. We took the boat out to Lady Musgrave Island to snorkel the protected lagoon where we saw sea turtles and amazing fish and went on a guided hike in the island forest. On another day, we took the LARC tour to the historic lighthouse for stunning sea views via the beaches of Eurimbula National Park. This destination provided the perfect balance of nearby adventure with a rare peacefulness in nature at the cottage. We will treasure our memories from this trip.”

“Hubby and I had planned on taking a camping trip for the weekend, to get away without the kids before the uni term started again. Due to a lot of wet weather, I decided to look for a budget-friendly option to escape the rain if it did come. I still wanted something out in nature, so when I came across "The boat in the bush" I knew that I had found the perfect location. It was so peaceful to sit on the deck, listen to the birds and just relax. Bruce was heading home from town as we arrived, so stopped to show us around and make sure we were settled. He was close enough in case we needed anything yet far enough away that we felt like we were there alone. We had a lovely chat as we arrived & went to say goodbye as we left too.”
