Popular amenities for Minnie Water holiday rentals

All about Minnie Water

Minnie Water is a beachside town hidden within the Clarence Valley region of Northern New South Wales, around 50 kilometres from Grafton. It’s one of the older fishing settlements on the coast, with a main beach that stretches for over a kilometre, the northern section of which is a paradise for surfers. The southern part is sheltered by the reef, making conditions ideal for swimming and boating.

The town is surrounded by the Yuraygir National Park — the longest stretch of protected coastline in New South Wales, with kilometres of untouched coastal land that is a haven for the local wildlife. There are several walks you can do in the park including the Angophora Grove Walk, the Rocky Point Track, or serious walkers can take on the 65 kilometre, four-day Yuraygir Coastal Walk, which extends from Angourie to Red Rock, with Minnie Water around the midway point. The walk is considered to be one of Australia’s great nature walks.

What are the top things to do in Minnie Water?

Angophora Grove Walk

Take a leisurely stroll along the Angophora Grove Walk — a one-kilometre forest track through the Yuraygir National Park — where you’ll meander through an interesting mix of vegetation, including a grove of smooth-barked apple trees, bloodwood, coastal banksia, cypress pine and casuarinas. There is also an abundance of native wildlife to be spotted including brush-tailed possums, sugar gliders, wallabies, and striking bearded dragons.

Rocky Point

Rocky Point is at the Northern end of Minnie Water’s amazing stretch of beach, offering a picture postcard view back down the curved beach towards Minnie Waters. There is a walking track from here that winds off into the foreshore scrub taking you all the way to nearby Illaroo. Along the way keep an eye out for the coastal birds that live near here including ospreys and brahminy kites. Swimming isn’t advisable at Rocky Point, but the area is popular for surfing.

Wooli Wooli River

Take a 15-minute drive to the town of Wooli where you will find one of the cleanest rivers in Australia. You can hire a canoe and gently make your way along the river and take in the native flora and fauna. You can also spot an abundance of local wildlife including kangaroos, emus, beach-stone curlews, brolgas, parrots, and kingfishers.
