Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Methven

As a university professor on sabbatical, the month I spent at Drew and Sally’s was exactly what I needed. A beautiful, peaceful, quiet place to write and the perfect place to be refreshed too. I wish I could give it 10 stars. More than anything else, my parents and I appreciated their kindness and warm hospitality. We were welcomed as though we were dear friends and were given many fresh eggs, produce from the garden, tales of adventure (Sally climbed Denali and Drew mountaineered and protected people in Antarctica), and walks with Koa, the friendliest and sweetest dog ever. I loved seeing the stars and Milky Way at night, the cute town of Geraldine with the Talbot Forest Walk, the biking/walking trail right by Drew and Sally’s house, the nearby Peel Forest and beach at Timaru, and great day trips to Lake Tekapo, Mt. Cook, and where LOTR filmed Edoras. I only stayed a month but I feel homesick and hope to return someday. We’ll stay in touch, Drew and Sally! Love from Laurie

We had a wonderful stay at Leonie’s property. It was Wow from arriving to stepping inside. Such a beautiful home and so much thought has gone into the needs of the guests. The welcoming sundries were so thoughtful and thank Leonie so much for them. It is an ideal place to stay when visiting the region of Canterbury. If in this area we highly recommend staying here.

We travelled to Ashburton, Des’ house with our two young grandchildren for our other Granddaughters 5th birthday. Des was awesome to deal with, the house was perfect for us, trampoline, seesaw for the kids, it more than met our requirements and was just around the corner from our families home, Perfect.

What an incredible place to stay in Methven! The home is large and has everything you could need. We brought our infant, and Franz was so accommodating by providing us with pack-n-play, high chair, toys. Such a comfortable home with many interesting vintage items and decorations. Such great value too!

Very roomy farm stay with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. Open kitchen/dining room/living room is great, and adjacent to outdoor seating and BBQ. Quiet and private, and near beautiful scenery and hiking. Wood burning stove kept the place warm on cool nights.

Had everything we needed - very clean and tidy. Little grandchild loved standing in enclosed porch looking at traffice. Very comfortable and well located for what we needed. Thank you Christine.

Great location for water sports. Everything we needed and so close to the playground. We enjoyed the walk to the restaurant. Child sized kayak was a hit with our 9 year old. Due to the weather the adults weren't so brave to try them out. Host was really responsive with any queries. Beds were great and so was the explanation of how to use everything. Thank you for allowing us to use your home.

Great little studio unit that worked well for our week long snow holiday as a couple. Easy walking distance to great local restaurants and cafes. Responsive and helpful hosts. Everything was as described and we found the place to be plenty warm with good sunlight. Thank you for having us 😀

I had a great stay at Bridget’s. Place was immaculate and had everything you could need. I appreciated the photo directions for parking, made it very easy and stress free. Would highly recommend.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The space was immaculately clean and the beds were amazingly comfortable. The host was incredibly responsive and thoughtful. Perfect location with epic views across to Mt Hutt. Would definitely book again! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Absolutely can not speak more highly of this accomodation! Stunning little apartment with the coolest vibes! I felt so at home! Everything was perfect. Great parking option for travellers too. We loved it ♥️

Great location. Enjoyed the spa after busy day of skiing . Lovely restaurant on site. Excellent communication. Nice warm apartment and easy to heat up if needed. We had a wonderful time .
