Private, and tucked away from the crowds, quiet, comfortable cabin in the woods, our Koosah Cabin is the perfect base camp for 2 to 3 people as you explore all the McKenzie River has to offer. Our property is nestled in the woods, just far enough off the highway that all you can hear is the sound of gentle rushing water. Koosah is almost identical to Tamolitch Cabin. We welcome people from all backgrounds and hope to share with you our love of the outdoors and our beautiful place in the woods!
“Wow what a special location and peaceful cabin! One of my favorite things about it hit me right when I walked in the door: the cabin smells amazing, like freshly cut wood (Pine? Cedar? I don’t know, I live in the city, but it was nice.) By now I’m used to the fact that most Oregon rental houses can smell a bit musty, moldy, like old bedding and/or wet dog. This cabin is the opposite of that. It has new bedding, rug, couch/pillows, plush white towels, etc. It’s clean, dry and warm, with good heating and everything ready to make a fire in the fireplace if you want. I was surprised because it’s pet friendly but there was no trace of pet hair/smell. There’s a great little porch that looks out into the woods, with a table and chairs. The river is a few minutes walk down a little trail (no river view from the cabin, but you can hear it). There are cabins close next door, but when you’re in the cabin looking out, you wouldn’t know they’re there. The kitchen has new appliances and is stocked with coffee, tea, cooking oil/seasonings. All the other amenities in the listing were present as described and in good working order. It was great being there in the spring, we enjoyed blue sky and sunshine, and of course that awesome forest smell. We’re already dreaming of coming back in the summer for a peaceful escape from the heat. It’s easy to find your way there, follow their red signs from the main road. It’s so close to the I-5 corridor and Bend, but you really feel like you’re getting away from it all. What a nice place!”
Picture yourself enjoying breakfast or grilling the trout you caught that morning on the deck watching rafters, kayaks, and fishing boats drift by. This cabin was built in the 1940's and though it's original charm has been preserved it has been updated to provide many modern amenities and comforts.
“Rachel's place on the McKenzie river is amazing! We stopped here on our way to Washington state as we were relocating for work seeking a special place to spend my husband's birthday and this was perfect! Rachel was a great host and communicated quickly with us and had all of the amenities you could need. We could not get enough of the river that is just below us on the gorgeous deck! Rachel has plenty of movies and books if you get rained in and offers plenty of gear for your outdoor adventures! We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this beautiful cabin!”
Welcome to our pretty cottage on the Santiam River, with a separate bedroom, kitchenette, sauna, and huge bathroom. This adorable cottage is perfect for couples looking for a weekend getaway. Enjoy the river from the loveseat swing. This is a perfect spot for all-season recreation, with more than 30 parks nearby, including a popular fishing spot. Our river is famous for its kayaking, and Detroit Lake is just up the road. Hit the slopes in the wintertime!
“Comfortable, clean cottage on the river with a personal sauna perfect after a hike or chilly evening! Peaceful and quiet although during our stay no one was renting the house that abuts the cottage. Good location near hiking and hot springs. Bed and other furniture were very comfortable. Hosts were good communicators and helpful tips provided. Note: small hibachi for cooking provided. bring your own grill or campstove if you need more cooking area. There are a few restaurants nearby.”
