The space
More than 10 miles of still-watered lagoons wind their way past the backyard of this traditionally styled, custom-appointed Hilton Head Island home. Part of the Palmetto Dunes Resort, it’s set in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood, with a pool in back and a path to the beach in front. Walk 3 minutes to surf, boogie board, or collect shells on the resort’s broad, sandy Atlantic beach.

Make the most of sunny days with a swim in the freeform pool, a soak in the hot tub, or a nap in one of the loungers on the pool terrace. There’s a shaded entertaining area just off the terrace with a barbecue, built-in wet bar, and alfresco dining. Follow the steps up to the covered porch off the main living area for a snack or a catch-up.

A grand entrance with twin staircases and double doors opens directly into the villa’s great room. It’s an inviting open-concept space with a living area, a dining table set into a bay of windows, and a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar, all covered by a classic coffered ceiling.

With the beach just 3 minutes away on the path in front of the house, you can stroll over to watch the sun rise or to squeeze in one last boogie-boarding session before dark. Take the resort’s free Dunes Buggy shuttle service to golf courses, other beaches, and shopping and dining in Shelter Cove.
