The space
Take an Italian vacation to new heights with a stay at The Tower. Perched dramatically on a cliff on the Amalfi Coast near Maiori, the tower was originally built for defense in the 14th century. Today, it’s been completely renovated into a peaceful two-bedroom retreat with glorious sea views. Larger groups can rent The Tower along with nearby Villa Luisa; together, the two villas can accommodate up to eighteen guests.
Despite measuring its age in centuries, The Tower has modern luxuries like a private pool, terraces overlooking the water with hammocks and sunbeds, and outdoor sitting and dining areas. A conference room and exercise room are shared with Villa Luisa, but The Tower has its own television and Wi-Fi in the living room and one bedroom. The services of a cook, housekeeper and butler and use of a golf cart are included in your stay.
For a medieval fortification, The Tower has surprisingly open and bright living spaces. The living room is finished in airy tones of white and creamy pale stone and filled with contemporary white sofas and wicker chaise longues. The dining room hints at the building’s history with wooden beamed ceilings and a fireplace, but a glass-topped table, white chairs and sunny sea views make it feel modern. A fully equipped eat-in kitchen has gorgeous stone floors and a backsplash in addition to perks like a dishwasher.
The Tower itself has one master bedroom with a double bed and en-suite bathroom. The bedroom in the tower is air-conditioned, opens to a rooftop terrace with sea views and has access to an outdoor shower. There are 5 additional bedrooms located in the Annexes. Annex III has two air-conditioned bedrooms, Annex II has an air-conditioned bedroom and en-suite bathroom and Annex I has an air-conditioned bedroom and en-suite bathroom as well.
Though The Tower feels peaceful and remote, it’s a 10-minute walk from Villa Luisa and a 5 km drive from the town of Maiori. It’s also easy to visit Minori, just under 7 km away, Antiquarium, 6 km away, and Amalfi, 7 km away. If you’d like to sunbathe or swim, Panorama Beach is 5 km from the villa, Bagni Mar di Cobalto is 10 km away and Bagni d’Arienzo Beach Club is 24 km away. The Sorrento airport is a 46 km drive and the Naples International Airport is a 66 km drive.
