Seek out simple luxury in Tuscany at Villa Ferranesi. This reconstructed farm was modeled on traditional houses in the Crete Senesi region, and sits amid quintessential rolling hills in the Asciano area outside Siena. Nine beautifully appointed bedrooms mean you can bring up to eighteen friends or family members on your Italian escape.
Lay out under the Tuscan sun in loungers around the swimming pool, try out local specialties in the outdoor pizza oven and serve up refreshments at the al-fresco dining table. In the evenings, lay a fire in the wood-burning fireplace, watch TV or share photos of your holiday via Wi-Fi.
While Villa Ferranesi looks to be all traditional stone walls from the outside, the interiors are open and bright, with soaring wood-beamed ceilings and graceful archways. A comfortable living room and inviting dining room are separated by the entryway and lit by high-set windows. The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped and even has a Nespresso machine.
This expansive vacation rental has four bedrooms in its main house, two bedrooms in a guest house and three honeymoon-style private one-bedroom suites. All nine bedrooms have king beds and en-suite bathrooms, and many of the suites have their own living and dining areas as well. For larger parties, a double sofa bed is available in the two-bedroom house.
From the villa’s location outside the town of Asciano, it’s easiest to explore the surrounding hills by car. Several nearby towns have, among other attractions, a historic abbey and sculpture garden, and the hill town of Montalcino is within easy reach. Visit the awe-inspiring pope’s palace in the UNESCO-designated town of Pienza, or taste the local wine in Montepulciano. For a memorable day trip, drive to the nearest city, Siena.
