The space
Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Greek islands at Villa Sylvana. Set amid rolling hills, the traditional five-bedroom stone villa feels as though it’s been part of the landscape for centuries, but is outfitted with modern luxuries. With the town of Gavalochori a short walk away and four beaches a short drive away, the property makes it easy to explore the island.
The villa’s living spaces extend to its stone terraces, lined with benches made for reading, and a charming tiled outdoor dining area. An inviting pool is surrounded by an equally tempting deck with lounge chairs and has views of the hills. Despite its traditional stone construction, the house itself is air-conditioned and has a television and Wi-Fi.
With stone walls, arched doorways, beamed ceilings and cozy fireplaces, the interiors of Villa Sylvana are warm and welcoming. A sitting area features minimalist gray sofas and a rustic coffee table gathered around a large mantel, with a sparkling chandelier as a whimsical finishing touch. The unique dining area has a modern semi-circular bar-style table that can seat up to fourteen guests.
The villa’s five bedrooms are bright and comfortable, with high beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls and soft neutral or pastel shades; a few have their own fireplaces as well. There are three bedrooms with king beds and en-suite bathrooms, one bedroom with a queen bed and one bedroom with two twin beds. Even the bathrooms are unique, with concrete-look walls or raw-edge stone vanities.
From Villa Sylvana, it’s a 10-minute walk to the town of Gavalochori. If you’ve come to Greece for the beaches, you’ll find Almyrida beach about 4 km away, Odyssia Beach just over 6 km away, Sentido Aegean Pearl Beach about 6 km away, Esperia Beach just over 6 km away and Atlantis Beach just under 6 km away. The Dimotiko Tennis Club is about 9 km away, and Heraklion International Airport is about 110 km from the property.
