Very bright and cozy studio house with wonderful views of nature out all windows. This small house is definitely off the beaten path and great for a total escape. During the winter months when weather is unpredictable you may have to walk up the driveway depending on your vehicle. Winter tires are a must and AWD is recommended but not always necessary. We are here to assist you. The house is located on our property but very private and separate.
“Lucille has a nice cottage on her land which houses her own home, a pack of cute chickens, a really friendly dog, a huge garden, and the most beautiful scenic view of a small valley. The cottage sits at the top and you get to look over the trees and at the mountain across. The location is perfect for bringing a book on local plant life and learning about each unique plant found in Canada. The kitchen is very spacious and lots of comfortable areas to sit and enjoy the evening in. Outside you can build a fire in a little bowl pit to roast some marshmallows and there is a small BBQ to cook up hamburgers!”
Log cabin on the Ottawa river is the ultimate retreat for nature lovers, just steps away from hiking, bike trails, the Luskville Falls and Gatineau Park. For those looking for nightlife/restaurants it's just 6 min away from Aylmer and 25 min from downtown Ottawa and the Parliament. The cabin is a separate building beside our house (8 feet away), but still very private and we respect our guests' privacy. However, if you’re looking for a place to have a party, this is not the place for you.
“Debbie and Jacques have created an oasis by the river. It feels like you're sleeping in the trees with all the windows in the roof and French doors that open to a massive second floor private patio. The pictures don't do the space justice. Jacques has fully renovated the kitchen and the upstairs bathroom (with a tub, sink and toilet) and he's done it with flair and attention to detail. It's got a cottage/vintage feel, but everything is spotless and updated. The red retro fridge, the vintage table, and the antique ceiling tiles used throughout are cute and playful touches. The enormous second floor deck is private and we enjoyed an evening drink by the gas fireplace overlooking the water. Jaques and Debbie are generous with their beautifully landscaped gardens and it's easy to find privacy on their big property. We swam every morning and had our tea by the river, with our dog playing nearby. The A-frame log cabin has skylights built into the roof so that you feel totally connected to nature and we slept with the doors open and let the river breeze flow into the room. Sunrises and sunsets are stunning. The hosts were quick with communication and tips, have thought of everything their guests might need, are friendly to chat with and the cabin is spotless, very welcome during Covid. We were so relaxed staying there that we felt we had a week of vacation. The cabin is a nature escape not too far from Ottawa, and was a perfect home base while we visited family in the city. The town of Aylmer is nearby for cute cafes and the hiking at Luskville Falls is amazing. The nearby trail system is also fantastic. We can't wait to come back in the fall and enjoy the downstairs fireplace and cozy living room.”
