“A very nice apartment that does not lack any detail. It is small but very comfortable and very well divided each zone. The tranquility of the place and the closeness means that for 24 hours you are listening to the sound of the sea. The terrace is wonderful, with a very comfortable hammock to relax and the best views of the beach. Cleaning a 10 !! The hostess has answered all messages very quickly. In summary, very good experience and highly recommended.”
Casita Tomate is a cosy one bedroomed house situated in the middle of the small village of El Ferrer. The house having traditional wooden beams through out. Open ground floor. With a private terrace from bedroom one the first floor.
“Perfect for two people. The thing I will remember are the relaxing days spent on the terrace and also exploring the various tracks in the valley behind the village. We didn’t hire a car so Nicky and Rupert were very kind in collecting us from Castell de Ferro and driving us back up the hill with our shopping and luggage. Also they let us know when they were going into town and were happy to pick up supplies for us. The house is well stocked with basics such as herbs, spices and rice, and a generous selection of fruit and vegetables were there for our arrival. Local wine, almonds and eggs are for sale in an honesty box just opposite the front door. We did walk to the shop, but only once as it’s quite a long way along the road past the greenhouses. It’s interesting to see the local industry but we preferred the peace and quiet of the village and the walks from there further inland. We saw various wild flowers including orchids. There are almond trees and lavender everywhere. We walked up to the village Rubite which was interesting to see. In the morning the sun comes up over the mountains and shines directly through the window opposite the bed. What a joy. If you open the door to the terrace, you can even sunbathe lying on the bed!”
Casa Pequeña: a pretty one bedroom cottage-style villa hidden within the exotic lush gardens surrounding owners farmhouse (Cortijo Nuevo). Also known as Costa Tropical Oasis. A tranquil countryside location just 2kms from Torrenueva beach & 3kms from bustling Motril town. Good shopping, many restaurants/tapas bars. Easy motorway access, a fantastic base to explore rugged Granada coast. New high speed fibre optic internet, September 2019 Great coverage; property, gardens and swimming pool
“What an amazing experience! Staying at Patrick's place was a wonderful experience but be prepared for quirky (as it says in the listing). The cottage is on three/four slightly separate floors (I think!). The bedroom has a separate door and is spacious with a small bathroom attached. There is no fixed door to the bathroom but a screen to pull into place. to get to the living room and kitchen you have to go outside the property and back in again (nearest entrance is up a slight slope to the living room). From the living room you can go up steps to the large roof terrace (beautiful for breakfast) or down a steep spiral staircase to the well equipped kitchen. This property is not ideally suitable for those with mobility problems. All rooms are comfortable and well equipped and the view from each traditional shuttered windows is beautiful. Patrick is a lovely gentleman and one of the best hosts I've ever met. Don't be worried about privacy from him, he completely requests your need for privacy or alternatively if you invite him, company. When we arrived he showed us round and we had a beer with him on the last night. Patrick has created a tropical paradise in his own garden. The garden is incredible. It's like the Palm House in Kew Gardens, London but with no glass cover!! Paths snake between olive trees, avocado trees, lime trees and dozens and dozens of exotic lush large plants. The pool at the bottom of the long garden is clean and private. The whole place is so quiet. My husband and I had the best nights sleep there ever! I've been on lots of Airbnb holidays in many countries but this one has the best garden by a long shot. First thing each morning and last thing at night (it's especially magical) my husband and I went for a wander round the garden admiring and spotting the incredible planting and diverse plants (spotted the bananas on the last day). I ate a mango I had picked and squeezed limes fresh from the tree. You need a car but are in hitting distance of Motril for shopping, the coast, mountains and Granada. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place if you want a quirky experience but are unphased by dogs (adorable and well behaved but gorgous Hector likes to accompany you where ever you go). Also, the whole place has a ramshackle air about it, with weather worn furniture and interesting bits and bobs (statues etc) everywhere. Paul and I loved it. I write this because if you are expecting a clinical spotless place and garden this is definitely not for you (Hector's mission is to get into the cottage with you but he can be shut out if you are quick!). Be prepared to relax, chill out and not be irritated by the odd light bulb not working etc you will have a memorable and magical experience hosted by a friendly and interesting host. It was a pleasure to meet you Patrick - what you have created is inspirational. Thank you for sharing it with us. This is why I love Airbnb. PS the cacti on the roof terrace look in need of water!”
